Virginia Lottery COVID-19 Update

Scammers are taking advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic and increasing their activities in Virginia. Be aware, stay alert, and never send money to receive a lottery prize.

Claim Center Information

All Virginia Lottery Claim Centers are open.

The Virginia Lottery Headquarters will remain closed until further notice.

Claiming a Winning Ticket

Starting with August 18, each Tuesday between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. only players over 60 will be able to claim prizes from the Customer Service Centers.

The prize claim period for tickets that expire during the state of emergency has been increased to up to 30 days after the state of emergency is lifted.

Requirements when claiming prizes from the Virginia Lottery Claim Centers:

  • The Customer Service Center opens at 8:30 a.m. - come no more than 10 minutes prior to that time
  • Have with you: a completed Prize Claim Form, a photo ID and proof of SSN
  • Masks or similar face coverings are mandatory
  • No guests are allowed

Prizes between $10 and $5,000 can be claimed from the Customer Service Centers or Claim Centers via a check or Visa Debit card.

Prizes of less than $600 can be claimed at any Virginia Lottery retailer. Please remember that retailers don't keep large amounts of cash available so they may pay your prize amount with a check or money order. Alternatively, you can claim your prize from a Virginia Lottery customer service center, one of the prize zones or claim via mail. If the prize amount is larger than $100 you'll need to provide a valid photo ID and proof of your SSN.

All prizes over $600 can be claimed by mail or at any of the Virginia Lottery Customer Service Centers or Claim Centers - remember to bring a valid photo ID and proof of your SSN when claiming in-person.

Requirements for claiming by mail: complete and sign the back of the ticket, fill out the Prize Claim Form, and include a copy of a valid photo ID and proof of the SSN.

All documents need to be mailed via certified mail to the Virginia Lottery Claims. Keep a copy of all documents for your records.
