Claiming a Winning Ticket

All prizes can be claimed by mail: complete and sign the back of the ticket, fill out the Prize Claim Form, and include a copy of a valid photo ID and proof of the SSN.

All documents need to be mailed via certified mail to the Wisconsin Lottery Prizes, P.O. Box 777, Madison, WI 53774. Keep a copy of all documents for your records.

Winning tickets can be claimed in person at the Madison Lottery Office by appointment only, Monday through Friday during opening times 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. To schedule an appointment call: 608-261-4916.

What happens to tickets that are stolen, lost, or printed in error?

Only an original ticket can be paid and validated. Sign your tickets immediately upon purchase. Wisconsin Lottery tickets are bearer instruments; if you sign the back of the ticket, it is considered rightfully yours. Once your Wisconsin State Lottery ticket has been printed there is no way to cancel it.


How long do I have to claim a winning ticket?

Purchased lottery tickets are valid for 180 days after the date of the draw.


How many advance draws can I play on each game?

Megabucks, Powerball, and Mega Millions can all be played for 8 consecutive draws in advance. SuperCash! and Badger 5 can be played up to 7 consecutive draws in advance. The Pick 3, Pick 4 and All or Nothing games can be played up to 7 draws in advance per draw (Midday or Evening) or up to 14 draws for both draws (Midday and Evening).
