Missouri Lottery COVID-19 Update

Scammers are taking advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic and increasing their activities in Missouri. Be aware, stay alert, and never send money to receive a lottery prize.

Draws

Draws for all games will continue as normal.

Game Changes

Starting jackpots for Missouri Powerball and Mega Millions have been removed - amounts will be published before each draw and now depend on ticket sales and interest rates.

Minimum jackpot increases between draws have been removed for both Powerball and Mega Millions.

Closed Centers

All Missouri Lottery Offices are open for claims greater than $600, via appointment only.

Claiming a Winning Ticket

Prizes under $600 can be claimed at any Missouri Lottery retailer.

Prizes over $600 can be paid at the Missouri Lottery Headquarters in Jefferson City, and at the Springfield, St. Louis and Kansas City Claim Centers.

  • Prizes from $600.01 to $35,000 can be paid the same day.
  • Prizes over $35,000 - it may take up to two weeks to receive the payment.

Please note that all Missouri Lottery Offices may stop accepting claims earlier than 4:30 p.m. in order to maintain safety and security rules and guidelines.

All prizes may be claimed by mail - fill out and sign the back of the ticket, fill out the Prize Claim Form, and include a copy of a valid photo ID. All documents need to be mailed to the Ticket Redemption Missouri Lottery. Keep a copy of all documents for your records.

For prizes of $600.01 and over, winners need to fill out the IRS W9 Form for taxable winnings.

Claiming Prizes

Here's the normal process for claiming prizes in Missouri.

Prizes of $600 or Less

Option 1.
Claim at any local retailer.
Option 2.
Claim at any of the Missouri Lottery Claim Centers.

Post the signed ticket to the Missouri Lottery.

Prizes of $600.01 or Over

Complete a claim form, sign the back of the ticket and post both items to the Missouri Lottery. Prizes of $35,000 or less can be paid on the same day of the claim but prizes of more than $35,000 take approximately two weeks to be redeemed.

It normally takes around three business days to process the claim (from the moment the claim is received), but please allow at least two weeks to make sure the claim is received.

About the Missouri Lottery

Missouri Scenery

The very first Missouri Lottery tickets went on sale in January 1986, and the lottery continues to prosper.

The first Powerball tickets went on sale in 1992 and the state started participating in Mega Millions in January 2010. The Lotto game is Missouri’s flagship game that starts with a minimum jackpot of $1 million.

Since 1986, the Missouri Lottery has contributed more than $6.5 billion to the state of Missouri and public education. In August 1992, voters passed Amendment 11 earmarking lottery proceeds to solely benefit public education. Players must be 18 years old or older to take part in the Missouri Lottery games and win prizes.

How long do I have to claim my Missouri Lottery prize?

Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their winnings. Unclaimed prizes will benefit Missouri public education.


What happens if my winning ticket is lost, stolen, or damaged?

Sign the back of your ticket and put it somewhere safe where you will remember it. The Missouri Lottery is not responsible for tickets that are damaged, stolen, or lost.


If I win a Missouri Lottery jackpot, can I remain anonymous?

Your name, hometown, winning prize amount, the game you won, and where you bought the ticket is public information. However, the Lottery won’t publish your Social Security Number, address, or contact details.
