Hold onto your hats, Wisconsin! There was a major Megabucks win on July 17, 2024, in Redgranite. A lucky ticket, sold at a local Kwik Trip, matched all six numbers and took home an incredible $4.3 million jackpot.

This isn't the first big win of 2024. Back in February, a lucky player in Oak Creek snagged a $3.5 million Megabucks jackpot.

This marked a momentous occasion for the store owner, Yash Patel, who expressed pure joy at selling his first-ever jackpot ticket exceeding $1,000. Patel noted that many of his customers specifically choose Wisconsin lotto games like Megabucks, believing they offer better odds compared to multi-state options. This win broke the dry spell for the 2024 Megabucks jackpot, following the previous winner in September 2023, who claimed a $2.8 million prize.

What is Megabucks?

Megabucks is a Wisconsin-only lottery game that offers a chance to become a millionaire for just $1. You get two plays for that price, making it an easy game to add to your lottery routine.

Drawings are held twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday night, giving you more opportunities to win.

How to play Megabucks

Playing Megabucks is straightforward. Here's what to do.

  • Pick six different numbers from 1 to 49. If you are feeling indecisive, you can opt for a Quick Pick and let the system choose your numbers randomly.
  • Decide how many drawings you want to enter in advance. You can play for up to eight consecutive drawings, giving you a chance to win without having to buy a ticket every time.

If you want a shot at winning instantly, add the EZ Match feature for an extra $1 per play. The terminal will generate five EZ Match numbers for you. If any of those numbers match the Megabucks numbers on your ticket (not the winning drawing numbers), you win the corresponding prize shown.

Megabucks tickets must be purchased by 9 p.m. CT on Wednesdays and Saturdays to be included in that day's drawing. Winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize.

Giving back to the community

More than just creating millionaires, the Wisconsin Lottery makes a positive impact on the state. Over 93% of its revenue goes back to winners, retailers who sell tickets, and Wisconsin homeowners. Since 1988, the Wisconsin Lottery has generated over $19.1 billion, with a massive chunk going towards funding property tax credits for eligible homeowners.

Will the next winner be you? Grab a Megabucks ticket and see if your numbers match the next big drawing! Remember, playing responsibly is key. Good luck!
