Unique to the Cornhusker State, Nebraska Pick 5 can only be purchased at Nebraska lottery retailers. The daily lottery game first went on sale on April 24, 1995, and the first drawing was on April 29.

On August 13, 2023, the rules of the game were changed. Two extra numbers were added, so players now choose five numbers between 1 and 40 to play. As before, the Nebraska Lottery Pick 5 jackpot starts out at $50,000. The upgraded jackpot is boosted by an extra $10,000 each night that there is no winner, and the Match 4 of 5 prize was increased from $450 to $500.

The odds of winning the jackpot are now 1 in 658,008, while the overall odds are 1 in 9.2. Players can win a free Quick Pick Play by matching two numbers. The free Quick Pick Play is valid for the next drawing.

How to play Pick 5

  • You can take a chance for a win with Nebraska Pick 5 by picking five numbers between 1 and 48 on your play slip. You can also ask your sales clerk for a Nebraska Pick 5 quick pick.
  • The price of each play is $1. You can select up to five different sets of numbers on each Pick 5 play slip. You also have the option to purchase the same numbers for a maximum of 84 consecutive drawings (that’s 12 weeks of Nebraska Pick 5 games) by checking the play slip’s multi-draw box.
  • You can purchase tickets from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. Central Time any weekday. There’s a daily sales break between 9:00 p.m. and 9:03 p.m.
