Texas lottery players face a trio of tempting opportunities as three major jackpots build to massive amounts. Powerball leads the pack at $172 million, followed by Mega Millions at $129 million, while Lotto Texas has surged to an extraordinary $83.25 million for the February 15, 2025 drawing.

The Lotto Texas prize stands as the fifth-largest in the game's history and ranks as the third-largest lottery prize currently available worldwide. Players choosing the cash option would take home $45.2 million, while Powerball's cash value sits at $79.7 million, and Mega Millions offers a $58.6 million cash option.

A life-changing opportunity

Players eyeing the jackpot can opt for a cash value payment of $45.2 million. This prize comes during the longest jackpot run in Lotto Texas history, now reaching its 101st drawing since starting at $5 million in June 2024.

Ryan Mindell, executive director of the Texas Lottery, said, "While the Texas weather may be blowing hot and cold, the excitement of this Lotto Texas run is only heating up." He reminds players that while the possibilities are thrilling, responsible gaming is paramount – participants must be 18 or older.

Historical context

The current jackpot stands among elite company in Lotto Texas history. The game's record-holder remains the $145 million prize from June 2004, claimed by VOM Enterprises, Ltd. in El Paso. Only once before has the game seen a prize in the $80 million range, when RBH CNC, LTD. claimed an $85 million jackpot in March 2001.

Recent winners and opportunities

The most recent Lotto Texas jackpot winner was an Austin resident who claimed $29 million in June 2024. While the grand prize remains elusive, players continue to win substantial lower-tier prizes. The February 10 drawing saw 69,619 tickets win prizes ranging from $2 to $12,684.

How to play

Players select six numbers from 1 to 54. Drawings occur Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:12 p.m. CT. For an additional dollar, the Extra! feature offers the chance to boost non-jackpot prizes by up to $10,000.

Supporting Texas education

Since 1992, the Texas Lottery has generated over $40 billion in state revenue and awarded more than $90 billion in prizes. The Foundation School Fund, supporting public education, has received $34.32 billion since 1997. The lottery also contributes to veterans' programs, providing more than $259 million since 2009.

Ticket sales close at 10:02 p.m. CT on drawing nights. As the jackpot continues to grow, Texans eagerly await the next chance to turn their lottery dreams into reality.
