There is a new millionaire in Florida after one lucky Florida Lottery player claimed their big jackpot!

Jackpot Triple Play winner

The Florida Lottery announced that 68-year-old John Long of Sarasota recently claimed the $1.75 million jackpot from the Jackpot Triple Play drawing that was held on October 24, 2023.

It may have taken almost a year to claim it, but Long made his way to the Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee and chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump sum payment of $1.01 million.

The winning numbers for that October 24, 2023, drawing were 22, 24, 27, 28, 32, and 37. Long matched all six of the winning numbers to claim the $1.75 million jackpot for that night.

Long purchased the jackpot-winning ticket, which was a Quick Pick ticket, at Dearborn Corner Market, located at 598 West Dearborn Street in Englewood.

For selling the winning ticket, the lottery retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus commission from the state lottery.

Jackpot Triple Play — how does it work?

Jackpot Triple Play is a Florida Lottery draw game. Each ticket comes with three sets of numbers to match with the winning numbers drawn.

For $1, players will pick six numbers between 1 and 46 or choose the Quick Pick option and let the computer generate numbers for them. The other two sets of numbers are always Quick Picks, and the computer generates them for you.

For an additional $1, players can choose the Combo option, which gives players more chances to win by combining all winning numbers from their ticket. The more numbers they match, the more money they win.

To win the jackpot, which is pari-mutuel and is capped at $2 million, players need to match all six of the winning numbers drawn that night. If the jackpot reaches $2 million and no one wins, the extra money from ticket sales rolls down into the non-jackpot prizes, increasing payouts until someone wins the jackpot.

There are four prize categories for the main draw and seven more in the Combo option. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 3.12 million. The odds of winning any prize in the main draw are 1 in 15.24 and 1 in 5.28 when choosing the Combo option.

Drawings for Jackpot Triple Play are held every Tuesday and Friday night at 11:15 p.m. ET.

Another big winner announced

The Florida Lottery recently announced another big winner, as 41-year-old Edin Galindo of Tampa took home one of the top prizes in the $50,000 A Year For Life scratch-off game.

Galindo recently made his way to lottery headquarters in Tallahassee and chose to receive the winnings as a one-time, lump sum payment of $815,000.

He told lottery officials, “I was very excited and shocked that I won.”

Galindo purchases the winning ticket from Quick Mart, located at 2209 East Bearss Avenue in Tampa. For selling the winning ticket, the lottery retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission.

Enjoy playing the Florida Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
