Just days after Friday the 13th stirred up all its usual superstitions, Florida's Pick 3 players were greeted by the spine-tingling combo 6-6-6. Known to many as the “number of the beast,” it's usually linked to bad omens, but for thousands of lottery players, it turned out to be a devilishly good surprise.

The number of the beast

For many people, the number 6-6-6 is often called “the number of the beast.” It is often associated with evil and thought to be an unlucky number.

However, over 4,000 people in Florida are thinking it's quite a lucky number right now. Last night's Pick 3 evening drawing came up 6-6-6 with a Fireball of 8.

For this lucky drawing, there were 4,682 lucky tickets that played 6-6-6 and won. Lottery officials said they handed out $1.88 million in prizes.

With the Fireball number 8, it added in 50 more winners. Those lucky players won $6,132, bringing the total amount of winnings for last night's Pick 3 drawing to $1.89 million.

So close to Friday the 13th

The interesting thing with 6-6-6 coming up last night is that it fell so close to Friday the 13th, which is also known as an unlucky day.

However, Friday the 13th has proven to be lucky for many Mega Millions players in the past. While it didn't bring a Mega Millions jackpot this past Friday, it seems like that luck shifted over to 6-6-6 and brought almost $2 million in prizes for lottery players in Florida.

Big win in Georgia

While Pick 3 players in Florida were celebrating 6-6-6 last night, Cash 4 players in Georgia were celebrating their own winning combination for yesterday's midday drawing.

For the midday drawing, the winning combination came in 1-5-1-1. I'm not sure of the significance of this combination, but it brought 7,593 winners. Lottery officials said they paid out $5.76 million in prizes to those lucky winners, so it was a big haul for them.

Other winning quad combinations

We recently had a quad winning combination in Virginia, as their Pick 4 drawing on June 3 came up 4-4-4-4. For that drawing, the lucky winners took home $7.9 million in prizes, which is 18 times the amount that was spent on Pick 4 tickets for that drawing.

4-4-4-4 happens to be a very popular winning combination also, as it came up three times in 2024 for South Carolina Lottery players. Pick 4 players in South Carolina saw 4-4-4-4 come up on January 26, June 25, and November 16.

Also, in 2024, DC 4 players in the District of Columbia saw rare back-to-back quad wins. On September 22, 2024, the 11:30 p.m. ET drawing for DC 4 was 8-8-8-8. That combination produced 232 winning tickets and paid out over $1 million.

Then on September 23, 2024, the 7:50 p.m. ET drawing for the DC 4 game was 2-2-2-2, which produced $1.24 million in winners.

Enjoy playing the lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
