The odds of winning a straight play in Pick 4 are high, but for the third time this year, the South Carolina Education Lottery drew 4-4-4-4 for the Pick 4 with FIREBALL draw game.

The third time is the charm

For the Saturday, November 16, 2024, midday drawing of Pick 4, the results came in as 4-4-4-4 with a FIREBALL of 4 also.

Based on that winning number, lottery officials said there were more than 3,200 winning plays for the drawing. Those winners ended up bringing the Pick 4 prize payout to more than $6.5 million for the one drawing.

For Pick 4, players can bet either $0.50 or $1 per play, and adding the FIREBALL option doubles your bet. So, depending on how much the winners bet, these Pick 4 Straight play winners won either $2,500 or $5,000. The players that added in the FIREBALL option won either $2,700 or $5,400 more.

Claiming your prize

Lottery officials said these lucky Pick 4 winners can claim their prize either by mail or by coming to the Lottery's Claims Center in Columbia.

With so many Pick 4 winners over the weekend, officials said visitors at the Claims Center should expect longer lines and wait times on Monday. For updates on those wait times, officials said to check the lottery's website and social media channels.

However, players do have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize if they want to wait a little bit to avoid the rush.

Previous quad wins

As stated above, this is the third win of 2024 for 4-4-4-4. The previous draws took place on January 26 and on June 25 of this year.

The odds of winning Pick 4 with a straight play are 1 in 10,000.

While 4-4-4-4 has come up three times in 2024, no other quad wins have taken place for either the Pick 4 midday or evening drawings.

The District of Columbia had rare back-to-back quad wins earlier this year. On Sunday, September 22, the 11:30 p.m. ET drawing for their DC 4 game was 8-8-8-8. That drawing featured 232 winning tickets, totaling over $1 million.

The DC Lottery followed that up on Monday, September 23, during the 7:50 p.m. ET drawing for the DC 4 game. That drawing came in at 2-2-2-2 and handed out $1.24 million in winners.

In Virginia, a lucky woman had a dream that quad fours would come up. She used that dream, and played the Pick 4 draw game from the Virginia Lottery. Two days later, 4-4-4-4 came up.

However, she didn't buy just one ticket for the draw. She ended up purchasing 25 tickets with the same winning combination. After 4-4-4-4 came up during the February 20, 2024, drawing, she won the $5,000 top prize 25 times, for total winnings of $125,000.

Enjoy playing the South Carolina Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
