Lottery players in the Old Dominion state loved the New Year’s Millionaire Raffle so much that the Virginia Lottery has brought it back. This raffle has the best odds of winning a $1 million prize in any Virginia Lottery game. Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle has become a New Year’s favorite tradition, and it’s back this year with five $1 million big prizes.

What is a raffle?

Raffles are different from typical lottery games because they have a limited number of tickets. Once these are sold the raffle is closed. Another difference is that while a lottery may have a non-winning result, a raffle always has winners. Furthermore, while lottery players can choose which numbers they want to play, participants in a raffle have the numbers pre-printed on their tickets.

New Year’s Millionaire Raffle

Tickets for the New Year’s Millionaire Raffle went on sale on October 31, 2023. A total of 625,000 tickets were made available. Ticket sales will continue until December 31, or until they are all sold, whichever comes first. Up till now, you still have time to grab a ticket or two, so don’t wait until the last moment.

The Virginia Lottery will announce the winning raffle numbers on New Year’s Day. Five lucky participants will win $1 million. There will also be seven $100,000 prizes and 1,000 $500 prizes. The odds of winning a $1 million prize are 1 in 125,000. Those are the best odds of winning $1 million in any Virginia Lottery game. The odds of winning any New Year’s Millionaire Raffle prize are 1 in 618.
