No jealousy can happen in this family, as a brother and sister in Massachusetts each struck it big playing Lucky for Life from the Massachusetts Lottery!

Big wins for siblings

The brother and sister from Brockton each played the multi-state Lucky for Life game, and they each happened to win $25,000 a year for life prizes in the August 25 drawing.

The winning white ball numbers for that drawing were 8, 17, 19, 29, and 31, and the Lucky Ball was 12. Both of the tickets happened to match all five of the white ball numbers to win the second-tier prize for Lucky for Life.

Pamela McClure bought her winning ticket at 7-Eleven, located on North Quincy Street in Abington. William Fralick purchased his winning ticket at Star Food Mart, located on Hovendon Avenue in Brockton. For selling the winning tickets, both stores will receive a $5,000 bonus from the state lottery.

Claiming their prizes

The siblings, who used family birthdays when picking their numbers, made their way to lottery headquarters in Dorchester recently to claim their prizes.

For the first or second prize in Lucky for Life, players have the option of claiming their winnings as a one-time cash lump sum or as regular annuity payments. The winner would receive yearly payments of $25,000 for life or for a minimum of 20 years, whichever is longer. For the lump sum option, the player would receive a one-time cash payment of $390,000 before taxes.

Both McClure and Fralick chose the lump sum option, so they both received checks for $390,000.

McClure told lottery officials she has no immediate plans for her winnings, but Fralick said he plans on putting his winnings into savings.

Family luck in Massachusetts

It seems like family luck might be running rampant in Massachusetts! Another recent winner has been inspired by his wife when picking his lottery numbers for decades. After all that time, he finally hit the big one!

Kevin Connor, who lives in Leicester, won a $2.64 million Megabucks jackpot on August 24. The winning numbers for that drawing were 5, 6, 8, 9, 24, and 32. Connor matched all six of the winners to win that top prize. When claiming his winnings, he opted for the one-time payment of over $1.8 million before taxes.

According to lottery officials:

"Connor said he has been playing the same Megabucks numbers for over thirty years. He plays a combination that consists of his wife's old landline number from when they first started dating, as well as his wife's favorite number."

It paid off, as he is now a millionaire! And what do you do after winning the lottery? This lucky winner is planning on buying some socks!

"He said he plans on using some of his winnings to pay for his children's college tuition and buy himself some new socks," lottery officials said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Hillcrest Country Club after Connor finished playing a round of golf. For selling the winning ticket, the Hillcrest Country Club will get a $26,400 bonus check from the lottery.

Enjoy playing the Massachusetts Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
