From quads and trips to a countdown combination, it was a dream weekend for fans of numerical patterns. With nearly 26,400 winners across the three draws and over $12 million in prizes awarded between New York and Pennsylvania, this Independence Day weekend gave players more than just fireworks to remember.

July 4 started with a bang in New York

The Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks weren't the only thing lighting up the night sky on Friday. New York Lottery players were seeing different kinds of fireworks. The evening drawing of the Win 4 game delivered a rare quads win with a huge payout for New York Lottery players.

The winning combination? 3-3-3-3

Those repeating digits brought joy to 3,632 players, each of whom placed their bets on the lucky foursome. In total, lottery officials said they paid out over $9 million in prizes for this drawing alone.

Wins like this are incredibly rare, but it did happen earlier this year in North Carolina. Those lucky players hit 8-8-8-8 back in January 2025 and took home $12.2 million in prizes.

Trips win in Pennsylvania

The winning didn't stop at the state border. On Saturday night, Pennsylvania Lottery players got their own taste of number-driven delight.

This time, it took place for the evening drawing of the Pick 3 game. Players were buzzing when the winning combination landed on a triple-threat of 8-8-8, along with a Wild Ball of 7.

This is called a “trips” win for lottery players, and like quads, they're extremely popular to play. They're also rare, so the payout is highly rewarding.

This winning combo made a lot of Pennsylvania Lottery players — 5,549 to be exact — very happy. Those winners lucky enough to choose the magic eights ended up winning a combined prize payout of $1.33 million.

For fans of Pick 3, the number eight is often associated with prosperity and good fortune. In some cultures, the number eight is considered a symbol of wealth and success. For these lucky winners, that seems to be true, as thousands turned their tickets into instant cash.

A countdown like the fireworks

As the long holiday weekend began to wind down on Sunday, July 6, New Yorkers got one last spark of excitement from the Fourth of July weekend. The evening Numbers draw game delivered a fitting end to the holiday with a clean, crisp countdown: 3-2-1.

The winning Numbers combination mirrored the build-up to a fireworks finale. However, this time, the grand finale came in the form of money.

For the drawing, there were 17,199 winning tickets purchased. Those lucky winners ended up taking home $2.02 million in prizes.

Whether it was a lucky guess, a favorite sequence, or a play on birthdates and anniversaries, those who bet on 3-2-1 won big time. While it's a simple combination, it proved to be a powerful one in its payout.

Enjoy playing the lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
