If you happen to buy your Palmetto Cash 5 lottery tickets on Johns Island, then you need to check those tickets!

Record-setting jackpot for Palmetto Cash 5

The Palmetto Cash 5 rolling jackpot reached its highest amount ever for the May 20 drawing - $1.07 million! And after clawing its way up to that record high, one lucky ticket purchased on Johns Island matched all five of the numbers drawn.

For Palmetto Cash 5, the jackpot starts at $100,000 and increases by a minimum of $10,000 each time it's not won. The jackpot had rolled 48 times before Monday's big win.

The winning numbers for the Monday, May 20, drawing were 15, 30, 35, 36, and 38. The lucky ticket matched all five numbers drawn to become South Carolina's largest rolling jackpot win.

The winning ticket was purchased at Speedway #02836, located at 3622 Savannah Hwy. on Johns Island. Now, the jackpot winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. The odds of winning the Palmetto Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 850,668.

After the record-setting jackpot win on Monday night, the Palmetto Cash 5 jackpot resets to $100,000 for tonight's drawing.

Another big Lottery win on Monday night

The South Carolina Lottery had another reason to celebrate on Monday night. One lucky lottery player who happened to add Double Play to their Powerball ticket ended up walking away $50,000 richer!

The winning ticket was sold at the Food Lion #2853, located at 15 Farrs Bridge Rd. in Greenville. The winning white ball numbers for the May 20 Double Play drawing were 5, 38, 39, 41, and 69, and the Powerball number was 25, which was held after the regular Powerball drawing.

The winning Double Play ticket matched four of the five white balls drawn and the Powerball number to win $50,000. The odds of matching four of the five white balls drawn plus the Powerball are 1 in 913,129.

Double Play - how does it work?

If you aren't familiar with Double Play, it is an additional option Powerball players can add to their ticket purchase. For an additional $1, players add the Double Play option, which gives them another chance to match their Powerball numbers in a separate drawing for a chance to win up to $10 million.

Double Play drawings are held immediately after the regular Powerball drawings are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. These drawings can be watched live online at the Powerball website.

While the lucky South Carolina Lottery player won $50,000 playing Powerball, no tickets matched all the numbers to win the Powerball jackpot last night. With that, the Powerball jackpot increases to $100 million for the Wednesday, May 22, drawing.

Enjoy playing the South Carolina Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
