An Oakland County man, who chose to remain anonymous, nabbed a $4 million prize when he played the Michigan Lottery's VIP Millions scratch-off game last week.

In an interview with the Michigan Lottery, he said:

I have played Lottery games for a long time, and enjoy instant games the most. When I scratched the ticket off and saw I had won $4 million I couldn't believe it.

The 67-year-old had to show his ticket to his wife to make sure his eyes were not deceiving him. Even then, it still took 24 hours for it to sink in that he was a millionaire. The player purchased his ticket from the USA 2 Go gas station, located at 47300 Citygate Drive in Novi. He visited the Lottery headquarters to collect his winnings. He chose to receive his jackpot prize as a one-time lump sum payment of around $2.7 million. He plans to use the money to make some home improvements and investments.

How to play VIP Millions

The VIP Millions instant-win game was launched in June 2022. This is a $30 scratch-off game with a top prize of $4 million. Scratch off the five crowns to reveal the winning VIP numbers. Then scratch off the 20 dollar symbols to reveal your numbers. If any of your numbers match the winning numbers, you win the amount shown by that number. Next, remove the bonus play circles. If you reveal a crowned dollar amount, you win that prize instantly. If you reveal 5X, 10X, or 20X symbol, multiply your prize by that amount. If you reveal WINALL, you can claim all the prizes shown on your game ticket. Get a dollar bill symbol in any spot, and you win that prize instantly. If you reveal a diamond symbol in any spot, you win that prize instantly. The prize range is: $30, $50, $60, $100, $200, $300, $600, $5,000, and $4 million. There is still one $4 million jackpot prize waiting to be won.

Other Michigan instant-win favorites

The Michigan Lottery knows its players love instant-win games. That's why it offers more than 300 scratch-off cards to play. These games can be played from as low as 50 cents up to $50, with prizes that range from $1 to $6 million. Some of the favorites include:
