A lucky Wayne County man is celebrating an enormous win after claiming a $100,000 second chance prize from the Michigan Lottery's 500X Money Maker game. The 57-year-old player, who wished to remain anonymous, initially thought the winning news was a scam!

He earned entries into the second-chance drawing by scanning his non-winning 500X Money Maker tickets on the Michigan Lottery app. After receiving two calls from the lottery, he finally realized his incredible luck.

The lucky winner plans to use his prize to pay his children's college tuition and save the rest of the money. He told the Michigan Lottery:

"It was an unbelievable feeling and still feels unreal!"

How to play 500X Money Maker

The 500X Money Maker is a $50 scratch-off game with two play areas. In the "FAST BONUS" area, reveal any symbol to win the corresponding prize. In the "Main Play Area," match any of your numbers to the winning numbers to claim the prize shown below. Reveal "2X," "10X," "100X," or "500X" symbols to multiply the corresponding prize. Matching any of your numbers to the "WIN ALL NUMBER" wins all 45 listed prizes.

Double the chance to win

Every non-winning 500X Money Maker ticket is eligible for the second chance promotion. Scan your ticket using the Michigan Lottery mobile app by June 21, 2024, to enter five more drawings offering prizes from $500 to $100,000.

More than just a game

Beyond the thrill of winning, the Michigan Lottery plays a vital role in the state. The mission is threefold:

  • Maximize net revenue to directly benefit K-12 education in Michigan.
  • Provide fun and engaging games while promoting responsible play.
  • Operate with utmost integrity to ensure fairness and transparency in all games and operations.

A legacy of supporting education and communities

Since its inception in 1972, the Michigan Lottery has established itself as more than just a platform for exciting games and potential life-changing wins. It has become a cornerstone for supporting education, local businesses, and the state as a whole.

Lottery impact:

  • Over $28 billion raised for Michigan schools since 1972: This substantial contribution directly impacts public education, benefiting countless students, teachers, and schools across the state.
  • More than $52 billion in prizes awarded to players since 1972: The thrill of the game and the potential for life-changing wins remain central to the lottery's appeal.
  • Over $6.2 billion paid to retailers since 1972: The lottery empowers local businesses through commissions, providing a steady income stream for over 10,500 licensed retailers throughout Michigan. The largest jackpot ever awarded, a staggering $1.05 billion, was won in 2021, highlighting the potentially life-changing impact for players.

A commitment to education:

  • All profits from ticket sales, exceeding $28 billion since 1972, go to the School Aid Fund: This dedication to funding public education remains the lottery's primary mission, supporting a brighter future for generations of Michigan students.
