Imagine being so excited at winning the lottery that you can't stop shaking. That's what it was like for Mark Scott of Wales Township when he checked his Powerball numbers and realized that he'd won a $200,000 prize from the Michigan Lottery.

In an interview with the Michigan Lottery, Mark said:

I bought a few Powerball tickets online since the jackpot was getting close to $1 billion. The day after the drawing, I had an email from the Lottery that I had never seen before. It had instructions on claiming my prize, but it didn't show how much I'd won.

When Mark logged into his account and saw that he had won $200,000, he was so shocked that he could barely speak. Finally, he calmed down enough to call his sister and share his good news. “Winning feels so surreal,” he said.

Mark matched four white balls and the Powerball. The winning numbers for the December 30 drawing were 10, 11, 26, 27, 34, and Powerball number 7. His initial prize was $50,000, which was increased to $200,000 because he added the Power Play option. Mark purchased his winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com. The 47-year-old has now claimed his prize from the Lottery headquarters. He plans to share his prize money with his children.

How to play Powerball

You can purchase Powerball tickets from your local lottery retail store or online in 45 states as well as Washington D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. Powerball tickets cost $2 each. You can add the Power Play option to any Powerball ticket for the price of just $1. The Power Play option multiplies non-jackpot prizes by as much as 10 times so that a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball win. This means you have a chance to win up to 410 in the Double Play drawings. Powerball drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
