How close is Wild Money to breaking its own record?

A $700,000 jackpot is within reach, and so is a record that has stood since 2022.

Rhode Island's Wild Money jackpot has hit $700,000. That makes it the second-highest jackpot in the game's history. The all-time record stands at $763,383, set in October 2022, and the gap is closing. Could tonight be the night someone rewrites history?

A game built on momentum

Wild Money is Rhode Island's own progressive jackpot game. It starts at $20,000 and grows with every draw until someone wins. No winner means a bigger pot.

The game replaced Money Roll in January 2002, and over two decades later, it remains one of the most popular games the Rhode Island Lottery offers.

Tonight's drawing airs on WPRI at 7:29 p.m. ET. Tickets can be purchased until 6:50 p.m. ET at any lottery retailer, through the mobile app, or on the official website. Sales resume at 7:35 p.m. ET for the next drawing.

How to play

The rules are simple. Pick 5 numbers from 1 to 38. Match all 5, and you win the jackpot. Each play costs $1. One play slip has 5 boards, so you can play up to 5 sets of numbers at once.

Not sure which numbers to pick? Choose "QP" on your play slip, and the computer generates a Quick Pick for you.

Want to play the same numbers across multiple drawings? Use the Multi Draw option. You can choose your numbers for 3, 7, 14, 21, or 30 consecutive draws.

Wild Money also draws an Extra Ball from the remaining 33 numbers after the main draw. You don't pick the Extra Ball. It doesn't appear on your ticket. It exists solely to determine secondary prizes. With it, Wild Money offers 7 ways to win. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 14.26.

Recent winners

The jackpot hasn't been won since late last year, but secondary prizes keep hitting. On June 2, a player at Alpine Wine & Spirits in Cranston matched 4 of 5 numbers plus the Extra Ball for $1,500. The day before, a player at Douglas Food Mart in Providence did the same.

Earlier this year, four players hit the jackpot outright:

  • January 15:  $104,887 at Centerville Liquors, West Warwick.
  • February 16: $145,150 at Stop & Save Store, East Providence.
  • March 6: $69,236 at Speedway, Cranston.
  • March 26: $82,064 at BP, North Providence.

Each of those wins reset the jackpot back to $20,000. Since March 28, it has climbed back to $700,000. That's the power of the progressive structure.

Claiming your prize

Sign the back of your ticket the moment you receive it. All winning tickets are paid to the bearer upon verification of identity and signature. Prizes under $600 can be claimed at any Rhode Island Lottery retailer. Prizes of $600 or more must be claimed at Lottery Headquarters, 1425 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, RI 02920. All prizes must be claimed within one year of the drawing date.
