What turns an ordinary gas station into a lottery phenomenon? Hansen's BP in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin has the answer.

This unassuming station on West Johnson Street just struck gold again. A customer walked away with $125,000 from Wednesday's Badger 5 drawing. The winning numbers? 6-10-18-25-31.

But here's where it gets interesting. This marks Hansen's BP's second Badger 5 jackpot in just four months. Most retailers would celebrate one big winner. Hansen's BP collects them like baseball cards.

The numbers don't lie

Since 2020, this single location has sold winning tickets worth over $1.8 million. Let that sink in.

The track record reads like a lottery retailer's dream:

  • $1,000,000 Powerball (February 2020)
  • $350,000 SuperCash! (May 2023)
  • $72,000 Badger 5 (September 2023)
  • $50,000 Powerball (January 2025)
  • $97,000 Badger 5 (May 2025)
  • $100,000 scratch ticket (August 2025)
  • $125,000 Badger 5 (September 2025)

What are the odds? For Badger 5 alone, it's 1 in 169,911. Yet Hansen's BP has hit multiple jackpots.

Lightning strikes twice in three days

The timing gets even more remarkable. Just two days before Hansen's BP's latest win, another Fond du Lac retailer scored big. Philly's on 4th Grocery & Deli sold a $350,000 SuperCash! ticket.

Two major wins in one small city within 72 hours? That's either incredible luck or something special about Fond du Lac.

The miracle mile connection

Fond du Lac locals know their lottery history. The city's "Miracle Mile" earned its nickname during the 1990s when four multi-million-dollar tickets were sold at various locations along the strip.

Hansen's BP sits just blocks away from this legendary stretch. Coincidence? Perhaps. But the pattern suggests otherwise.

What makes a lottery hotspot?

Does location matter for lottery sales? The evidence from Fond du Lac suggests it might.

High-traffic areas see more ticket sales. More sales mean better odds of selling winners. But Hansen's BP's success rate exceeds what pure volume would predict.

Customer loyalty plays a role too. Regular players often stick to their favorite retailer. When that retailer has a reputation for winners, it attracts more players.

The retailer incentive

Wisconsin rewards successful lottery retailers. Stores that sell winning tickets over $599 receive a 2% commission, capped at $100,000.

Hansen's BP has earned thousands in incentives from their recent winners alone. The $1 million Powerball ticket netted them the maximum $100,000 commission. The recent $125,000 Badger 5 winner adds another $2,500.

Will the streak continue? The odds suggest regression to the mean eventually. But Hansen's BP has defied probability before.

Players have 180 days to claim their $125,000 prize. The winner can visit wilottery.com for claim instructions or use the Wisconsin Lottery mobile app to verify their ticket.

For now, Hansen's BP maintains its status as Fond du Lac's lottery goldmine. Whether skill, luck, or location drives their success, one thing remains clear: this gas station has mastered the art of creating winners.
