After weeks of rollovers and increased excitement, the Texas Two Step jackpot finally found a winner. One lucky ticket matched every number drawn on March 5 to claim the $2.4 million prize, ending a jackpot run that had been building since early February. The win ranks as the second-largest jackpot in the game's history and the biggest Texas Two Step prize players had seen in nearly two decades.

Jackpot run comes to an end

The Texas Two Step jackpot reset for the February 2 drawing, starting at $200,000. No player has matched all four numbers plus the Bonus Ball since then to win the jackpot. That is, until last night.

For the Thursday, March 5, drawing, the jackpot had climbed to $2.4 million, the second-largest jackpot in the draw game's history. This was also the draw game's biggest prize since 2006.

That jackpot run ended last night when one ticket matched all the winning numbers. Those winning numbers were 2, 3, 19, and 29, and the Bonus Ball was 9.

The winning ticket, which was a Quick Pick ticket, was purchased at 7-Eleven Convenience Store #36361A, located at 4590 Frankford Rd. in Dallas. For selling the jackpot-winning ticket, this lucky retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus from the Texas Lottery.

Breaking records in Texas

The Texas Two Step draw game launched in 2001. This jackpot was the second-largest since the game debuted. It was also the 10th drawing in that jackpot run.

The excitement was buzzing for this near-record jackpot. Courtney Arbour, executive director of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees the Texas Lottery, stated:

With the jackpot approaching an all-time high and tickets costing just $1 per Play, tonight's Texas Two Step drawing is looking like an attractive prospect for our players. We remind everyone who participates to play responsibly.

Top 5 Texas Two Step jackpots

This latest jackpot run came close to taking over the top spot. However, it fell just a little short. Here are the Top 5 jackpot wins for this in-state draw game:

  • $2.9 million – April 27, 2006, with winning tickets sold in San Antonio, Longview, and Longview.
  • $2.4 million – March 5, 2026, with the winning ticket sold in Dallas.
  • $2.25 million – October 12, 2023, with the winning ticket sold in Garland.
  • $2.15 million (tied) – October 2, 2006, with winning tickets sold in Euless and Bryan.
  • $2.15 million (tied) – March 12, 2009, with the winning ticket sold in La Marque.
  • $2.15 million (tied) – March 15, 2021, with the winning ticket sold in Austin.
  • $2.05 million – August 15, 2019, with the winning ticket sold in Amarillo.

While this latest win was only the second-highest jackpot in the game's history, it is the biggest individual payout. The top jackpot was shared by three winners, so each won close to $1 million.

How does Texas Two Step work?

For Texas Two Step, the jackpot starts at $200,000. It increases each drawing; there is no winner.

Tickets cost $1 per play, and players can win the jackpot by matching all four of the white ball numbers (1-35) and one red Bonus Ball (1-35) to the numbers drawn.

The drawings are held on Mondays and Thursdays at 10:12 p.m. CT, and tickets must be purchased by 10:02 p.m. CT.

Enjoy playing the Texas Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
