The Powerball craze is showing no signs of slowing down. With the jackpot climbing into jaw-dropping territory, millions of hopeful players tuned in for the latest drawing, holding tightly to their tickets and dreaming of life-changing wins.

While there were no big jackpot winners this time, the night still delivered plenty of excitement, with several lucky players walking away as millionaires. From big wins in Tennessee to surprises in Michigan, Oklahoma, and Maryland, it just goes to show that even if the grand prize slips away, fortune can still strike in unexpected ways.

The jackpot rolls on

The anticipation was high for last night's Powerball drawing. The jackpot had climbed to an estimated $643 million, and people were all wanting a piece of that jackpot. After the winning numbers were drawn last night, lottery officials announced no ticket matched all the winning numbers, and the jackpot was growing to $700 million.

For Wednesday, August 21, 2025, the winning white ball numbers were 31, 59, 62, 65, and 68, and the Powerball number was 5 with a Power Play of 2X.

This current jackpot run has now reached 36 drawings without a winner. In addition, this is the biggest Powerball jackpot since April 2024, when one ticket from Oregon won the $1.33 billion jackpot.

Millionaires still made

Despite no jackpot winner, we still saw some big winners that night.

In Tennessee, one lucky player matched all five of the winning white ball numbers with the Power Play option to win $2 million. That winning ticket was purchased at Mapco, located at 2142 Central Ave. in Memphis.

Meanwhile, there were also two Match 5 ticket winners that didn't include the Power Play option. These tickets were sold in Michigan and Oklahoma, with each of them winning $1 million. The winning ticket in Michigan was purchased at Speedway, located at 5505 Perry Rd. in Grand Blanc. There are no details yet on where the Oklahoma winning ticket was purchased.

Double Play action

There are also two Powerball players in Maryland celebrating today, as they each won $500,000 playing the Double Play option for the Powerball draw game.

Powerball Double Play is a separate drawing that takes place 30 minutes after every Powerball drawing. Players can add on this Double Play option for an additional $1. A new set of balls is drawn for Double Play, with players being able to win up to $10 million.

The winning Double Play numbers were 16, 17, 23, 46, and 52, with the Powerball number being 3.

Two tickets matched all five of the white ball numbers, but missed the Powerball number for the Double Play game. That means they each won $500,000.

Those winning tickets were purchased at:

  • Landover Hills Exxon, located at 6579 Annapolis Road in Landover.
  • A-1 Laundromat, located at 6818 Riverdale Road in Riverdale.

Officials said that these lucky winners now have 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize at the lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

Enjoy playing the lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
