Winning $1 million “feels like a dream” for this lottery club in Michigan. Wouldn't you agree?

Coworkers who gamble together

A lottery club in Milford matched the five white balls in the January 16 Mega Millions drawing to win $1 million. The winning numbers for that draw were 2, 10, 42, 49, and 54, and the Mega Ball was 13.

According to the Michigan Lottery, the 21-member Lunchroom Ladies lottery club bought the winning ticket at BP, located at 19995 West 9 Mile Road in Southfield. The club recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim their prize.

One of the club members said:

We are coworkers and have been playing the Lottery as a club for a while. I checked the ticket at a store and when I found out we'd won $1 million, I was in complete shock! I called all the club members and told them we won big, but a lot of them had a hard time believing me at first.

'Feels like a dream'

We can only imagine what winning $1 million feels like. Since the Lunchroom Ladies have experienced it, they got to talk about it.

The club's representative, Marc Swoish, told lottery officials:

Everyone in our club agrees that winning feels like a dream and it still hasn't fully sunk in for anyone yet.

Lottery Commissioner, Suzanna Shkreli, said:

The only thing more fun than playing Lottery games with your friends is winning big prizes with your friends. Congratulations to the Lunchroom Ladies lottery club on a huge win in the Mega Millions game.

No club for this other new Michigan millionaire

Another lucky Michigan Lottery player is celebrating. Hugh Leach of Mason recently bought an instant ticket while grocery shopping, and it turned out to be a $2 million winner.

Leach bought the winning ticket at Meijer, located at 550 Hull Road in Mason. He told Lottery officials that he normally buys a $20 ticket every two weeks, so he finished up his grocery shopping and headed to the lottery machine to make his purchase. He unloaded his groceries and then scratched the ticket.

When I saw I matched '02' for a $2 million prize, I thought: 'Wait a minute. This can't be right.' I looked the ticket over a few more times and then said to my wife: 'I think I just won $2 million!' I called the Lottery the next day to confirm it was real and schedule an appointment to claim my prize.

Leach, 82, recently visited Lottery headquarters and claimed his big prize. He took the one-time lump sum payment and took home $1.3 million. With that money, Leach said he plans on buying a new car and a new lawn mower, completing some home repairs, and investing.

Leach said:

You see these types of things happen to other people, but you never think it will be you, so winning was a complete shock.

Enjoy playing the Michigan Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
