Across the US, lotteries are leaning into Valentine's Day with themed promotions, romantic scratch-offs, and gift ideas.
A ticket - or tickets - can be a simple, affordable way for players to surprise their significant others, especially if they're curated for the holiday.
Here's what some state lotteries have to offer the nation's lovebirds.
Love-themed promotions
States across the country are offering Valentine's Day-themed promotions. Some of them include:
- New Mexico: Adorable luchador-themed card, called “luch-adore.”
New Mexico Lottery players can download and print out four different luchador-themed Valentine's Day cards and slip a ticket inside for their loved ones. The cards feature a cartoon luchador wrestler, with messages like, “You make my heart fly like a luchador” and “Will you be mine? I luch-adore you.” Cheesy and random? Yes. But undeniably sweet.
- Florida: Lotto Love promotion
The Florida Lottery has been running a limited-time promotion designed to reward frequent players of Florida Lotto, offering a chance to win a year's worth of free draws. It also happens to be a love-themed promotion that spans over Valentine's Day.
Running through February 28, Lotto Love automatically enters players who purchase qualifying 52-draw Advance Play tickets into an instant-win giveaway. Select tickets will trigger an automatic prize coupon worth $208.
- Massachusetts: We Love Our X's Keno promotion
For those who love Massachusetts' Keno game, the Keno Bonus “We Love Our X's” is running from February 13 to the 16th. During a limited promotion period, the Lottery is adding a 2x multiplier, in addition to the game's regular 3, 4, 5, or 10X multiplier. The added multiplier improves chances for boosted payouts.

The classic lottery ticket bouquet
One of the most popular lottery-themed gifts is a bouquet of lottery tickets designed to look like flowers - and who knows, they could be worth a lot more than a dozen roses.
One popular approach is to fold lottery tickets into fan shapes and attach them to floral sticks, arranging them like blooms in a vase. Scratch-offs, Powerball, Mega Millions, or any lottery ticket can make up the bouquet.
Or, roll tickets into rose-like spirals and secure them with ribbon for a romantic look.
Some gift-givers pair tickets with artificial flowers, chocolates, paper heart accents, or small notes to add a personal touch.
The biggest lottery claim ever
The biggest lottery win of all time wasn't won on Valentine's Day, but it was claimed on February 14, 2023.
Edwin Castro, the famed $2.04 billion Powerball winner from Altadena, California, claimed his prize - the biggest lottery win ever in history - on Valentine's Day, after winning the prize in November 2022. After opting for the lump sum, he took home $997.6 million.
Through a lottery ticket, you could be giving the gift of historic luck - or at the very least, a good time.
