Those who participate in playing the Pennsylvania Lottery should regularly check their tickets. Two different winning tickets, each worth at least $2.5 million, expire in fewer than two months.

According to a press release distributed by the state lottery, there are both Match 6 Lotto and Cash 5 with Quick Cash jackpot-winning tickets that haven't been turned in yet. These were sold in Wayne County and Westmoreland County, respectively.

Players have until May 2, 2025, to claim the Match 6 Lotto winnings, while the Cash 5 with Quick Cash ticket becomes invalid on May 9.

Multiple Pennsylvania Lottery tickets set to expire

Every so often, a sizable lottery ticket that's successfully hit the jackpot will fall through the cracks and go unclaimed. This can typically happen more with non-jackpot tickets, as some players might have their eye out for the massive prize and not realize they've hit a smaller win.

That said, the two Pennsylvania Lottery tickets that will become void in May both connected on the jackpot and provide life-changing sums of money.

The Match 6 Lotto winning ticket is worth $2.5 million and was sold at the Weis Markets located at 1199 Texas Palmyra Highway in Honesdale. It was for the drawing taking place on May 4, 2024.

The ticket matched all six numbers to hit the jackpot. Its numbers were: 2-22-24-36-38-39. Although Friday, May 2, is the last day to file your prize claim at a Pennsylvania Lottery office, it can also be conducted through mail as long as it's postmarked by Sunday, May 4.

The other unclaimed Pennsylvania Lottery winner is a Cash 5 with Quick Cash ticket that was purchased at the Murrysville SHOP 'n SAVE. The store is located at 4536 William Penn Highway and sold the ticket for the May 8, 2024 drawing.

Again, the ticket matched all the winning numbers: 14-22-33-35-38. This Cash 5 jackpot is totaled at more than $2.6 million overall. The last day to claim this prize is Thursday, May 8.

The state lottery urges players to check every ticket every time they buy, in addition to signing their name to the back of the winning ones to show proof of ownership. Those with a winning ticket should call the lottery and make an appointment to visit one of seven available area offices that are open to the public. Offices are open between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

If these jackpot winners go unclaimed, the prizes will be left in the Lottery Fund and are utilized for programs supporting the state's senior residents.

More big-ticket lottery prizes coming to Pennsylvania

The state could see more massive prize winners soon as the Pennsylvania Lottery is looking to roll out additional games with huge payouts. By eliminating this profit percentage mandate that currently requires all games to return a minimum of 20% in earnings, the state lottery could debut new titles that come equipped with lots of potential winnings.

Even though it would seem this requirement would benefit the lottery, it's actually limiting it. Lots of today's players are interested in games that can deliver these sizable victories that can truly alter someone's life.

If it's successful in changing this rule, the lottery believes it will gain more customers, which in turn will bring more profit. According to the most recent lottery profit report, removing the mandate would provide “an incremental increase of $1.24 billion in profit over 10 years.”
