Florida has a brand-new lottery millionaire, and the winning moment has been a long time coming. After 40 straight drawings without a jackpot, luck finally struck in Wednesday night's Florida Lotto game, ending one of the biggest streaks of the year.

The winning ticket was sold right here in the Sunshine State, turning an ordinary purchase into a $36.5 million fortune. While the prize is huge, it's not even the biggest win of 2025, but how does this jackpot stack up against the others? Let's take a closer look at Florida's biggest Lotto victories this year.

Big win in Florida

The winning numbers were drawn for the Florida Lotto game on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, and one lucky ticket matched all of the numbers to win the $36.5 million jackpot.

The winning ticket was sold at a Publix located at 1400 E. Hallandale, so players need to check their tickets. For last night's drawing, the winning numbers were 2, 4, 6, 8, 18, and 22.

Jackpot run is over

For this latest jackpot run, it took 40 drawings before a jackpot-winning ticket was sold.

The last jackpot win took place on May 7, 2025, when one lucky player won the $8.75 million jackpot that night. The jackpot reset to $1 million for the May 10, 2025, drawing and has been climbing ever since.

What comes next for the jackpot winner?

Florida Lotto winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. Once the lucky winner presents their ticket and it's verified, they can choose between receiving the full $36.5 million spread out in annual payments over 30 years or taking a smaller lump-sum cash option right away.

Each choice has its pros and cons, but which option will this new millionaire choose?

How does it stack up to other Florida Lotto wins in 2025?

For the Florida Lotto draw game, this was the sixth jackpot win of 2025. As big as last night's jackpot was, it wasn't the biggest win of the year.

Here is a breakdown of the 2025 jackpot wins for the Florida Lotto draw game:

  • $43 million – January 15, one winning ticket sold in Destin
  • $36.5 million – September 24, one winning ticket sold in Hallandale
  • $10.75 million – March 8, one winning ticket sold in Southwest Ranches
  • $8.75 million – May 7, one winning ticket sold in Jacksonville Beach
  • $3 million – March 29, one winning ticket sold in Lake City
  • $1.5 million – March 15, one winning ticket sold in Panama City Beach

How does it stack up nationwide?

While $36.5 million is a big win for Florida Lotto, it's small potatoes compared to some of the massive jackpots we've seen in multi-state games like Powerball and Mega Millions.

This year alone, we have seen Powerball produce a $1.79 billion jackpot, which was won by tickets in Missouri and Texas. In December 2024, Mega Millions also produced a billion-dollar jackpot ($1.22B win in California).

Still, Florida Lotto stands out because the odds are better than those of multi-state games, and the winners come from right here in the Sunshine State.

Enjoy playing the Florida Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
