Sharon Culpepper of Newport was celebrating on Monday, January 9, after she bagged a $1 win from a Multiplier Mania instant-win game. She purchased the $10 Multiplier Mania ticket from the Newport BP located at 101 Main Street, Newport.

She was so excited about her win that she ran into her house screaming. Then she started calling her family members, but because she'd played tricks on them before, none of them believed her until she gave them proof. In an interview with North Carolina Lottery, Sharon said:

This is a game changer for me. The first part of 2024 is looking outstanding.

Sharon traveled to Raleigh on January 10 to collect her winnings. She decided to take the one-time lump sum payment of $600,000, and after-tax withholdings, she took home $429,003. She intends to pay some bills, do some house repairs, buy a new car, and take a Caribbean cruise.

How to play Multiplier Mania

The Multiplier Mania instant-win game was launched in June 2023. It is a $10 scratch card with six top prizes of $1 million. As of this date, three jackpot prizes remain to be won. To play Multiplier Mania, scratch off the six dollar symbols to reveal the winning numbers. Then, scratch off the 20 cash symbols to reveal your numbers. If any of your numbers match the winning numbers, you win the prize shown by that amount. If you match any of your numbers to the multiplier numbers, you can multiply your prize 2X, 10X, or 20X, depending on which box your number matches with.
