The West Virginia Lottery has a new record to celebrate, and one lucky player has 323,340 reasons to be excited. A player recently won $323,340 playing Big Crush Multiplier, an online instant game available through the West Virginia Lottery's iPLAY platform. The prize marks the largest instant win since the state launched its digital lottery program in October 2024. While players have previously claimed big prizes from traditional draw games purchased through the app, this is the largest overall win recorded through iPLAY.

Big Crush Multiplier delivers a big payday

The record-setting prize came from Big Crush Multiplier, a progressive jackpot game that gives players a chance to win prizes through matching symbols. The game also features golden keys that can unlock a bonus round, where players have an opportunity to win larger prizes, including the progressive jackpot.

Unlike traditional lottery games that require players to wait for scheduled drawings, online instant games allow players to find out whether they've won immediately. Progressive jackpots also offer an additional attraction, as their prize amounts can grow until someone lands the winning combination.

For this West Virginia player, the result was a $323,340 payday and a place in the state's growing iLottery history.

Claiming a $323K prize requires a trip to lottery headquarters

Although the winning ticket was purchased digitally, collecting a prize this large isn't something the player can complete entirely through the app.

Under West Virginia Lottery rules, prizes exceeding $25,000 must be claimed in person at Lottery headquarters in Charleston. Winners can begin the claims process through iPLAY, but they will receive additional instructions about completing their claim.

That means the record-setting winner will need to make an in-person visit before collecting the six-figure prize. The Lottery has not released additional details about the winner or how they plan to spend the money. Acting Director David Bradley stated:

This is an incredible milestone for our iLottery program. We have had big winners on draw games purchased through the app, but this is the largest win overall for iLottery since we started. We're excited for our winner and happy for him, but we want to remind everyone how critical it is to play smart and responsibly.

West Virginia's digital lottery continues to grow

West Virginia launched iPLAY in October 2024, giving eligible players another way to participate in lottery games without purchasing traditional paper tickets at a retailer. The platform is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, where players can download the app and create an account.

In addition to online instant games, iPLAY allows players to prepare digital play slips for lottery purchases.

The app also includes the Lottery's loyalty program, which lets players scan eligible tickets to earn points. Those points can be redeemed for entries into drawings offering prizes such as event experiences, scratch-off tickets, and cash.

For the West Virginia Lottery, the $323,340 win represents another milestone for a digital platform that's just over two years old. And for one lucky player, Big Crush Multiplier certainly lived up to its name.

Enjoy playing the West Virginia Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
