If you play Carolina Cash 5 and happen to live around Durham, then you might want to check your old tickets because you could be sitting on a jackpot-winning ticket!

The North Carolina Lottery announced that the winner of a $394,216 jackpot prize for the Cash 5 draw game has gone unclaimed and is about to expire if the winner doesn't claim it by April 15.

The winning Cash 5 ticket

This winning Cash 5 ticket was purchased at Parkwood Convenience, located at 5100 Revere Road in Durham, for the October 17, 2023, drawing.

This winning ticket matched all five white balls to win the jackpot. For the October 17, 2023, drawing, there were three winning tickets that split the $1.18 million jackpot, so each winner received $394,216.

The winning numbers for that drawing were 9, 11, 14, 30, and 34. The odds of matching all five white balls in a Cash 5 drawing are 1 in 962,598.

Claiming your prize

For the Cash 5 game, winners have 180 days from the day of the drawing in order to claim their prize. Since the drawing took place on October 17, 2023, this lucky winner has until 5 p.m. on Monday, April 15, to claim their prize.

If you happen to be holding this winning ticket, you must present it to the lottery headquarters in Raleigh by that deadline.

In a statement, Mark Michalko, executive director of the North Carolina Education Lottery, said:

Search everywhere you keep your tickets and double-check any you have to see if you have the winning ticket. We hope that whomever purchased this ticket comes forward to claim their prize soon so we can celebrate their big win with them.

How to play Carolina Cash 5

For those not familiar with the Cash 5 game in North Carolina, it is a daily draw game that takes place at 11:22 p.m. ET.

Players will pick five numbers between 1 and 43, or they can choose the Quick Pick option, which allows the computer to generate numbers for them. There is also the EZ Match option available, which gives players an instant chance at winning other prizes.

It costs $1 per draw for Cash 5, with an additional $1 per line for the EZ Match option. There is also the Double Play option available for an additional $1 per line. This gives players the chance to enter their numbers into the Double Play draw, which gives players the chance to win additional prizes up to $50,000.

For Cash 5, the jackpot starts at $100,000 and grows every draw until someone wins. There are four prize categories for Cash 5, ranging from $1 for matching two numbers up to the jackpot for matching all five numbers. There are also 10 additional prize categories for EZ Match and four prize categories for Double Play, which range from $3 up to $50,000.
