A lucky Tennessee lottery player took home the grand prize of $260,000 from a state drawing game on Friday, November 7. The game, Daily Tennessee Jackpot, had been rolling over its jackpot every day since October 14, when a player won $240,000.

The winning ticket

One player from Nashville purchased the winning ticket at Circle K at 4805 Trousdale Drive, with the numbers 9, 19, 21, 27, and 36.

When their ticket is claimed, their name, home state, and hometown will be released to the public, and their photos may be uploaded on the Tennessee Lottery site. Lottery winners in Tennessee are not kept anonymous.

The winner has 180 days to claim their win. They must claim it at the Nashville Headquarters & Claim Center.

Seven players snagged tier-two prizes by matching four numbers, earning them a $100 prize each. These lower-tier prizes can be automatically deposited into an iLottery account.

On Friday, 244 winners got $5, while 2,316 winners got $1, winning back the prize of their ticket. Jackpots always start at $30,000. After the reset, the jackpot is back to $40,000 as of Monday afternoon.

Daily Tennessee Jackpot gameplay

To play Daily Tennessee Jackpot, players spend $1 per play slip and choose draw numbers from 1 to 38. Draws are held every day at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Players can add a Quick Cash instant option for an additional $1 and win up to $500.

Odds of matching all five numbers in the regular draw, like Friday's jackpot winner, are 1 in 501,942. Odds of matching four numbers are 1 in 3,042. Odds of winning any prize in the game, beginning at $1, are 1 in 8.36. The odds of winning any instant Quick Cash option are 1 in 5.24.

Where the money goes

In Tennessee, lottery proceeds go to the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation for operations and for educational causes throughout the state. The lottery has earned $8 billion for initiatives like college grants, scholarships, and after-school programs for students K-12 since its inception in 2004. Retailers have earned more than $2.1 billion in ticket sales commissions in the state. Winners have received $22 billion in prizes.

Daily Tennessee Jackpot is Tennessee's first state draw game. The highest jackpot ever reached in the game was $570,000, while the average jackpot is about $197,589.

The largest lottery cash prize ever received in Tennessee history was $259.8 million through Powerball in 2014 in Knoxville.

Buying tickets

Daily Tennessee Jackpot tickets can't be purchased online - only at authorized retailers. But players can check if they've won by checking the Tennessee Lottery site or scanning their tickets through the state lottery app. The same rules apply to Tennessee's other popular games, which include Cash 3, Cash 4, Tennessee Cash, and Cash4Life.

The Tennessee iLottery app does sell tickets online for Powerball and Mega Millions, which are both enjoying large jackpots at the moment.
