Talk about a life-changing dilemma. One Virginia Lottery player is starting this week with the ultimate choice: take $1,000 every day for the rest of their life or cash out with a cool $7 million all at once.
The winning Cash4Life ticket was sold in Hampton, and while the lucky player hasn't come forward yet, their decision is bound to be a tough but enviable one.
Cash4Life top prize won in Virginia
It was a big win for one lucky player in Virginia over the weekend. One lucky ticket matched all the winning numbers drawn in the November 9, 2025, Cash4Life drawing, according to Virginia Lottery officials.
The winning numbers for the November 9 drawing were 3, 8, 18, 20, and 22, and the Cash Ball was 4. The winning ticket, which was purchased at Aberdeen Food Mart, located at 933 Aberdeen Road in Hampton, matched all six of the winning numbers drawn to win the game's top prize: $1,000 a day for the rest of your life.
Here's where things get tricky: the lucky winner now has an important decision to make when they come forward to claim their prize. They can choose to receive the winnings as $1,000 per day for the rest of their lives or take a one-time cash option of $7 million before taxes.
The winner has not yet come forward to redeem their winning ticket. They have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.
More details on Cash4Life
For those not familiar with the Cash4Life draw game, it is played in Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.
The multi-state draw game features a top prize of $1,000 per day for life for matching all six of the winning numbers drawn.
If a player happens to match all five of the white balls drawn but misses the Cash Ball number, they would win the second-tier prize. That would be $1,000 per week for life.
Drawings for Cash4Life take place nightly at 9 p.m. EST, and each play costs $2. The odds of winning the top prize in this draw game are 1 in 21.8 million.
'Nice to be wrong'
Sometimes it pays off to be wrong. Well, at least it did for Rebecca Chapman of Virginia Beach.
Her husband recently asked her to buy a Mega Millions ticket because the jackpot was getting big. However, she went to the store and accidentally purchased a Powerball ticket instead.
Turns out, that ticket matched four of the five white ball numbers drawn plus the Powerball number. While that typically pays $50,000, Chapman did choose the Power Play option for an extra dollar, so her prize was doubled to $100,000.
The winning numbers for that October 22, 2025, drawing were 18, 37, 52, 54, and 60, and the Powerball number was 12. She purchased her winning ticket online.
When collecting her prize winnings, she told lottery officials, “It was nice to be wrong.”
Enjoy playing the Virginia Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
