Someone in Spring Hill, Tennessee, just became $37.37 million richer. But who?

An unknown Lotto America player struck gold Saturday night, June 7, 2025, matching all the winning numbers to claim the game's massive jackpot. The ticket was purchased somewhere in Spring Hill, making this Tennessee town the center of lottery excitement.

This jackpot ranks as the second-largest in Lotto America's history. Only one prize has been bigger—Earl Lape of Dubuque, Iowa, won $40 million in April 2023, playing his lucky numbers 2-38-43-46-51 at Eichman's Bar & Family Restaurant.

What happens next for the mystery winner?

The Tennessee Education Lottery hasn't revealed the winner's identity yet. That's normal. Winners often take time to process their good fortune before stepping forward.

The Tennessee Lottery offers this advice: sign the back of your ticket immediately and call their office during business hours. A signed ticket protects your claim.

The winner faces a choice. Take the full $37.37 million spread over annual payments, or grab the lump sum of $16.8 million in cash.

How Lotto America works

Lotto America keeps things simple. Pick five numbers from 1 to 52. Each play costs $1. Want to boost your non-jackpot winnings? Add the All Star Bonus for another dollar. This multiplier can increase smaller prizes up to five times, maxing out at $500.

Drawings happen three times weekly—Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights at 9:15 p.m. CST.

This jackpot had been building since April 2024, rolling over for 133 consecutive draws. That's how these prizes grow so large. Every time nobody matches all the numbers, more money gets added to the pot.

Where can you play Lotto America?

Fifteen states offer Lotto America tickets: Kansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Tennessee, Iowa, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Maine, West Virginia, New Mexico, and Delaware.

Each state sets its own rules. Tax rates differ. Age requirements vary. Prize claim procedures change by location.

Tennessee's education jackpot

This win creates two winners. The ticket holder gets rich. Tennessee students get help.

Since 2004, the Tennessee Education Lottery has funneled more than $7.8 billion into education programs. College grants, scholarships, K-12 after-school programs—all funded by lottery sales.

Players have won over $21.4 billion in prizes. Retailers have earned more than $2 billion in commissions. Everyone benefits.

What are the odds?

Let's be honest. Winning Lotto America requires incredible luck. The odds of matching all five numbers plus the Star Ball stand at roughly 1 in 25 million. But someone has to win eventually.

The Spring Hill winner proved that. After 133 draws without a jackpot winner, persistence paid off.

The next drawing

Tonight's jackpot resets to $2 million with a cash value of $890,000. Not as exciting as $37.37 million, but still life-changing money.

Will lightning strike twice in Tennessee? Could another Spring Hill resident win? The odds say probably not. But that's what makes the lottery thrilling.

The next drawing happens tonight at 9:15 p.m. CST. Tickets cost $1. Sometimes, that's all it takes to change everything.
