It was a big night for fans of repetition, and an even bigger one for Illinois Lottery players who took a chance on a bold, familiar combo. During the Pick 4 evening drawing on August 6, the same digit popped up not once, not twice, but four times in a row, sparking excitement across the state.

The result? A thrilling payout that had thousands of lucky winners grinning from ear to ear. It's not every day that a rare numerical pattern turns into a multimillion-dollar payday, but when it does, you can bet it leaves a mark.

Four all over the place

Illinois Lottery players had reason to celebrate last night, and that reason was the number four. For the Wednesday, August 6, 2025, evening drawing of the Pick 4 game, the winning combination was 4-4-4-4, with the Fireball being 2.

Quad wins are not common, but when they do happen, they tend to bring out a big payday for the lucky winners. That's exactly what happened for these Pick 4 players.

For this 4-4-4-4 win, there were 2,725 winning tickets sold in Illinois. Those tickets happened to pay out $6.81 million in prizes.

Not a first for 4-4-4-4

On June 3, 2025, Pick 4 players in Virginia were feeling lucky after their big 4-4-4-4 quad win. According to the Virginia Lottery, the lucky players took home $7.9 million in prizes.

Meanwhile, players in South Carolina were having quite a 2024 for quad wins. In that year alone, Pick 4 players saw 4-4-4-4 come up three times.

The odds of winning Pick 4 with a straight play are 1 in 10,000. However, Pick 4 players in South Carolina saw 4-4-4-4 come up on January 26, June 25, and November 16, 2024. There were no other quad wins for Pick 4 players in 2024.

That last quad win in November paid off for over 3,200 winning tickets for the drawing. Those winners ended up bringing the Pick 4 prize payout to over $6.5 million for just that one drawing.

Other quad wins in 2025

There have been a couple of other big quad wins that have taken place in 2025. One just took place last month, as the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks were the only thing lighting up the night sky.

Win 4 players in New York happened to enjoy a rare quads win, which also brought a huge payout for New York Lottery players. The winning combination for that holiday weekend happened to be 3-3-3-3.

Lottery officials said there were 3,632 tickets purchased for that winning combination. In total, there was over $9 million in prizes handed out for that drawing alone.

While wins like these are rare, there was another one that took place earlier this year in North Carolina. In January, Pick 4 players saw the winning combination of 8-8-8-8 come up. Those lucky winners happened to take home $12.2 million in prizes.

Enjoy playing the Illinois Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
