Puerto Rico Lottery takes 35th anniversary celebration island-wide

The Lotería Electrónica de Puerto Rico (LEPR) is marking 35 years with a series of island-wide events. The celebration runs from July through November 2025, bringing live draws, music, and cultural activities to communities across Puerto Rico.

What better way to celebrate three decades of operation than taking the party directly to the people?

From Ponce to Aguadilla: Celebration hits the west coast

The anniversary tour launched on July 18 in Plaza de Ponce. The event exceeded expectations, drawing large crowds who enjoyed live drawings and cultural offerings.

Assistant Secretary of the Lottery Bureau Heidi Hernández Olivo noted the Ponce event's strong turnout and enthusiastic participation confirmed the organization's approach of bringing the lottery experience directly to communities across the island.

The tour continues through the fall. After an event in Naranjito on September 19, the celebration moves to:

  • Fajardo on October 10
  • Paseo de la Princesa in Old San Juan on November 8

All events run from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm local time, except the San Juan finale.

New games mark the milestone

LEPR launched two commemorative instant games for the anniversary.

The Jurassic World scratch-off ($5.00) offers more than instant prizes. Players get a second-chance entry into drawings for a trip to Hawaii and the opportunity to win $1 million at a special event there. The game generated over $2 million in sales during its first two months.

Two promotional lottery package drawings are scheduled: October 2025 (50 winners) and February 2026 (49 winners plus one Hawaii trip winner).

The 35th Anniversary instant game awards prizes up to $15,000. It's available at more than 2,500 retail locations across the island.

How has the lottery evolved?

The transformation is striking. LEPR went from limited weekly draws to daily drawings. Now the organization holds draws Monday through Saturday at 2:00 pm and 9:00 pm local time.

The product lineup has expanded significantly. Current offerings include:

Digital payment options now include ATH Móvil and PayPal at retailer locations. This modernization improves the player experience and reflects changing consumer preferences.

Why does this matter for Puerto Rico?

The lottery serves as more than entertainment. Revenue from LEPR funds supports scholarships, healthcare programs, and sports initiatives across the island.

Over 50% of Puerto Rico residents participate in lottery games. That level of engagement makes LEPR a community pillar.

Hernández emphasized the organization's commitment to providing new experiences while maintaining transparency and responsible play standards. The anniversary celebrations are designed to be inclusive events for all Puerto Rican citizens.

For more than three decades, LEPR has been a key driver in funding programs that directly benefit Puerto Rico. The 35th anniversary celebration acknowledges this contribution while looking forward to continued service.

Will the next 35 years bring even more innovation? If the current trajectory is any indication, LEPR will continue adapting to serve Puerto Rican communities.
