How Washington State Lottery makes a difference

The Washington State Lottery was launched in 1982. Since then, it has generated more than $5 billion to support numerous state programs. This includes providing funds for the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account (WOPA), which stabilizes and increases existing resources for research into early childhood education, opportunity grants, and college scholarships. During the last financial year, WOPA received $176.6 million, which paid college tuition fees for more than 9,900 Washington residents.
