You often hear about pranks being pulled on April 1, but there were no April Fools Day jokes for one lucky Nebraska Lottery player.

The Nebraska Lottery announced one lucky player for the Monday, April 1 drawing of 2by2 is holding onto a ticket worth $22,000.

The winning 2by2 ticket

One ticket sold for the April 1 2by2 draw matched all four winning numbers. For matching all four numbers, the lucky winner gets the $22,000 top prize. The winning numbers from Monday's 2by2 draw were Red 1, 7, and White 21, 22. The winning ticket was sold at Mai's Market, located at 2727 N. 11th St. in Lincoln.

Winning tickets for the Nebraska Lottery expire 180 days after the drawing. Any prizes worth $20,000 or more must be claimed in person at Lottery headquarters in Lincoln.

If you bought a 2by2 ticket for April 1, you are encouraged to check that ticket at any Nebraska Lottery retailer, online at our Nebraska Lottery page, or by calling the Lottery office at 402-471-6100.

2by2 — how does it work?

The 2by2 game was launched in 2002 by the Multi-State Lottery Association. It first launched in Kansas and Nebraska, with North Dakota joining in 2002 and Wyoming joining in 2021. Idaho also joined in 2021, but sales ended for the 2by2 game in 2022.

The game is played seven nights a week, with drawings taking place at 9:30 p.m. CT. The draws are held in Des Moines, Iowa.

To play, you need to pick two red numbers between 1 and 26 and two white numbers between 1 and 26. Players can also choose the Quick Pick option, where the computer generates the numbers for you. Each play costs $1. Players can pick up to five different sets of numbers on each pay slip and can play the same numbers for up to 28 consecutive drawings.

If you buy a ticket for 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, or 84 consecutive multi-draws, then your ticket qualifies for the free 2by2 Tuesday feature. This feature will automatically double any prize won on Tuesday's drawings. Any multi-draw selection that is not divisible by seven is not eligible for the 2by2 Tuesday feature.

For 2by2, there are a total of eight prize categories available to win. This ranges from winning a free ticket for matching one red or white ball up to the top prize of $22,000 for matching both red balls and both white balls. Of course, if you qualify for the 2by2 Tuesday feature, then you could win $44,000 if you match all four numbers on a Tuesday draw.

Players that match one number win a free 2by2 Quick Pick ticket. Once the winning ticket is validated, the free ticket will automatically print, and it will be good for the next drawing. Players can't pick their own numbers on the free ticket.

The odds of winning the top prize in 2by2 is 1 in 105,625. The odds of winning any prize is 1 in 3.59.

Enjoy playing the Nebraska Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
