To win a big lottery jackpot once is huge. To do it twice within two years, it's something out of a movie, but it happened for this lucky Nebraska couple!

The lucky couple

James and Kim Edwards of Omaha play Pick 5 every day, usually five plays at a time. The couple purchased their winning ticket at Family Fare 784, located at 14444 W. Center Rd. in Omaha.

Like their usual routine, the ticket contained five Quick Pick plays for the July 14 drawing. One of those plays happened to match all five of that night's winning numbers, which happened to be 1, 14, 23, 39, and 40. After matching all five of the winning numbers, the couple won the $260,000 jackpot for that night.

A strategy that works for them

The Edwards' strategy of playing Pick 5 every day and purchasing five plays at a time is a strategy that seems to pay off for the couple. Not only did they just win this $260,000 jackpot, but they have also won in the past.

In fact, the couple claimed a $160,000 Pick 5 jackpot in September 2022.

James told lottery officials when claiming his new prize:

The first time I won, the scanner was quiet, no noise, it just said, “Take to cashier,” I scanned this one, and I looked at Kim, and I whispered, “It's doing the same thing again.”

Family has jokes

Before they made their way to Lincoln to claim their winnings, James called his boss, and Kim called her parents to let them know they were making their way to Lincoln. Both of them jokingly asked the same question:

Did you win the lottery again?

They were joking, but in reality, the jokes were true, and the Edwards were on their way to collect their lottery winnings again!

After collecting their winnings, the Edwards said they're planning on using their winnings to pay off their house.

James said:

I never thought in a million years.

Kim added:

That we would win, let alone twice. We are very thankful and very blessed.

Omaha woman wins 2024 Ford F-150

Another Nebraska Lottery player hit it big when Kimberly McPhaul of Omaha became the fourth winner of a 2024 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 SuperCrew truck in the $2 Truck$ & Buck$ scratch game.

McPhaul stopped by Hy-Vee Food Store #04, located at 10808 Fort St. in Omaha, to grab a few last-minute items for a Fourth of July family get-together. Since she was there, she decided to try her luck at some scratch tickets and bought some Truck$ & Buck$ tickets.

She brought the groceries home and sat down to scratch her tickets with her family surrounding her. She was shocked when she scratched the winning ticket.

McPhaul told lottery officials:

They didn't believe me. I yelled, “I won a truck!”

Her husband jokingly reminded her:

You screamed.

She said she currently drives a pickup truck, but they have plenty of room in the driveway for a new one. While her daughter joked about her giving the truck to her, McPhaul said:

This one's all mine.

Enjoy playing the Nebraska Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
