Minnesota Lottery players have twice as many chances to become millionaires in the state's popular New Year's raffle this year. The Minnesota Lottery's annual Minnesota Millionaire Raffle is back, and we have some big changes coming in 2027. For the first time in the game’s history, four lucky players will each win $1 million when the winning numbers are announced on New Year's Day.

That's double the number of million-dollar prizes offered last year. The lottery has also increased the number of tickets available and improved the overall odds of winning a prize.

More millionaires and better odds

The Minnesota Millionaire Raffle has been a New Year's tradition since 2006, but this year's game is bigger than ever.

Players can purchase tickets for $10 each at approximately 3,000 lottery retailers across Minnesota. Each ticket comes with a unique seven-digit number that will be entered into the January 1, 2027, drawing.

The lottery increased the number of available tickets to 1.5 million, giving more people an opportunity to participate. Despite the larger ticket supply, the overall odds of winning have improved to 1 in 49.76.

There are 30,142 prizes available this year, including the four $1 million jackpots. For players hoping to start 2027 with a little extra cash, there are plenty of smaller prizes available, too.

What prizes can Minnesota players win?

While the four million-dollar prizes will get most of the attention, the Minnesota Millionaire Raffle offers several other ways to win. Here's the complete prize breakdown:

  • $1,000,000: 4 prizes
  • $100,000: 6 prizes
  • $50,000: 6 prizes
  • $25,000: 6 prizes
  • $10,000: 20 prizes
  • $500: 1,000 prizes
  • $200: 1,100 prizes
  • $100: 8,000 prizes
  • $50: 20,000 prizes

That means 38 players will win at least $10,000, while thousands more will take home prizes ranging from $50 to $500. With four million-dollar prizes among 1.5 million tickets, the odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 375,000 if every ticket is sold.

Will the extra tickets make a difference?

One of the biggest changes this year is the expanded ticket supply.

The Minnesota Lottery is making 1.5 million tickets available, allowing more players to participate in a game known for its popularity. However, more tickets also mean more competition for those million-dollar prizes.

The good news for players is that the lottery has increased the number of prizes enough to improve the overall odds of winning something. Still, those odds include the smaller prizes. Winning $50 is much more likely than taking home $1 million.

A New Year's tradition continues

Since the Minnesota Millionaire Raffle launched in 2006, it has produced 40 million-dollar prizes. This year's drawing will add four more millionaires to that list.

Tickets are available now, but sales are limited to the 1.5 million tickets allocated for the game.

Players can check their numbers against the 30,142 winning numbers announced on January 1, 2027. For four lucky ticket holders, the new year could begin with a seven-figure surprise.

Enjoy playing the Minnesota Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
