It has been a winning week for Michigan Lottery players and it kept on going Wednesday night, as one lucky player hit the $1.72 million Lotto 47 jackpot!

Fifth Lotto 47 jackpot win of 2024

For the Wednesday, September 25, Lotto 47 drawing in Michigan, there was one lucky ticket that matched all six of the winning numbers. Those winning numbers happened to be 4, 12, 25, 33, 41, and 47.

The lucky winner purchased their winning ticket on the Michigan Lottery website. Lottery officials announced this was the fifth time this year that a lucky player has won the Lotto 47 jackpot.

Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli said:

It has been an incredibly lucky week for Michigan Lottery players who have won two $25,000 a year for life Lucky For Life prizes, a $5 million Mega Millions prize, and a $1.72 million Lotto 47 jackpot. These big wins have helped bring awareness to the lottery and will help us post a strong finish to the fiscal year with a contribution to the School Aid Fund topping $1 billion for the sixth straight year.

If you happen to be the lucky person holding onto this winning ticket, lottery officials said you should contact the Lottery's Player Relations division at 844-917-6325 to make an appointment to claim your prize. Winners have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

One Lucky for Life prize remains unclaimed

While the Michigan Lottery has had two $25,000 a year for life Lucky for Life prizes won this week, they have also had a total of 12 players win that same prize in 2024! However, one of those prizes remains unclaimed six months after the big win.

During the March 26 drawing, one lucky ticket matched all five of the white balls drawn that night — 18, 25, 34, 39, and 48 — to win the $25,000 a year for life prize. They missed out on matching the Lucky Ball, which was 12, to win the top prize for the game of $1,000 a day for life.

The winning ticket was purchased at Merriman Drugs, located at 31320 5 Mile Road in Livonia.

Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli said:

Winning a $25,000 a year for life prize is a life-changing event, we want the winner to claim their prize, and they have six months left to do so. While we hope to hear from the winner sometime in the next six months if the prize goes unclaimed, it will go to the School Aid Fund, and that is good news for Michigan's public schools.

Like the Lotto 47 winner mentioned above, winners in Lucky for Life have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. That means that the $25,000 a year for life winner has just six months left to claim their prize.

When they do claim their prize, they will have to make a big decision. Take the annual $25,000 payments for a minimum of 20 years or life, whichever is greater, or take a one-time lump sum cash payment of $390,000.

Lottery officials are also encouraging the winner to contact the Michigan Lottery Player Relations Division at 844-917-6325 to schedule an appointment to collect their winnings. The winner must claim the prize at the lottery's headquarters in Lansing.

Enjoy playing the Michigan Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
