A man in Boston is celebrating big time, after he got his "lion’s share" of a huge jackpot in the Massachusetts State Lottery.

The big lottery win

The Massachusetts State Lottery announced that Tayoan De Lima Santos, who lives in Dorchester, was the latest big winner to claim a prize.

Santos happened to win $4 million playing the $4,000,000 Lion’s Share instant ticket game, lottery officials announced.

After winning the top prize for the game, Santos headed to lottery headquarters to claim his winnings and he chose the cash option for his prize. Because of that, he received a one-time payment of $2.6 million before taxes.

Santos purchases the winning ticket at Mike’s Fuel & Food Mart, located at 1455 Trapelo Rd. in Waltham. For selling the winning ticket, the lottery retailer will receive a $40,000 bonus from the state lottery.

Now that Santos has his big winnings in hand, he told lottery officials he plans on doing some traveling and some home improvements with the winnings.

More millionaires in Massachusetts

The Massachusetts State Lottery has been celebrating a few big wins recently from lucky players on instant tickets!

One of those players happens to be Leandro DeJesus of Marlborough, who happened to win a $2 million prize playing the $2,000,000 50X Cashword instant ticket game.

DeJesus recently made his way to lottery headquarters to collect his winnings and he decided to go with the cash option, which gave him a one-time lump sum payment of $1.3 million before taxes.

With his winnings in hand now, he told lottery officials he plans on helping his family with the money and also intends on investing and purchasing a home.

He bought the winning ticket from Post Road Pantry Convenience, located at 21 Boston Post Road E. in Marlborough. For selling the winning ticket, the lucky lottery retailer will receive a $20,000 bonus from the state lottery.

Up next is Jose Carrasco of Corona, New York, who won $1 million playing the 100X Cash instant game. Carrasco, who is a baker, had been in Massachusetts visiting a friend when he bought the winning ticket.

He made his way to lottery headquarters to collect his winnings and he opted for the cash option, which gave him a one-time lump sum payment of $650,000 before taxes. He told lottery officials he has no plans yet for his winnings.

Carrasco purchased his winning ticket from American Food Markets, located at 1187 Blue Hill Ave. in Mattapan. For selling the winning ticket, the lucky retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus from the state lottery.

The final new millionaire thanks to the Massachusetts State Lottery is Pedro Chacon of Everett, who happened to win $1 million playing the $1,000,000 Winning 7 instant ticket game.

Chacon made his way to lottery headquarters recently and, like the others, he chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes. With the money, Chacon, a truck driver and father of three, said he plans on putting the money away for his children’s education.

He purchased the winning ticket from Fine Mart Convenience, located at 180 Ferry St. in Everett. For selling the winning ticket, the lucky lottery retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus from the state lottery.

Enjoy playing the Massachusetts Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
