Maryland Lottery players are getting a fresh mix of hometown pride and high-stakes excitement, as a new scratch-off collection inspired by local artists rolls out alongside the return of a fan-favorite game. From iconic Maryland scenes brought to life on tickets to the chance at a six-figure spin on a glowing prize wheel, this latest launch blends creativity and big-winning potential promotions in a way that feels uniquely tied to the state and its players.

Maryland Treasures scratch-off tickets

In the summer of 2025, the Maryland Lottery invited its residents to submit original artwork to be featured on a lottery scratch-off ticket. The Maryland Treasures Art Contest sought images that incorporated elements of the state's history, culture, traditions, or landmarks.

Each artist could submit up to five pieces of artwork. The contest had over 700 artists submit their work for consideration, with a total of almost 2,200 pieces to choose from.

From there, a panel of Lottery staff selected the four illustrations that best connected with the Maryland Treasures theme. On March 7, the winning images were revealed during the Maryland Home + Garden Show.

Four winners selected

Each artist received $4,000 for having their work selected. The artists were:

  • Courtney Bindl of Timonium – This painting featured the horses of Assateague Island, which was inspired by her childhood trips to that part of the state.
  • Julia Chiplis of Frederick – This illustration recognizes that Ocean City is a favorite destination of Marylanders. Her artwork features the popular boardwalk.
  • Gia Coakley of Mount Airy – This artist was inspired by her grandparents, who lived on the Eastern Shore during her childhood. This was placed in her artwork, which featured a crab and a heron.
  • Kevin Richardson of Columbia – This one featured a boat and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Richardson was hoping the piece would bring happy memories from people's trips across the bridge.

The four winning images were released on Friday, March 20, 2026, as part of the Maryland Treasures scratch-off collection. The $2 scratch-off offers the chance to win up to $10,000.

THE BIG SPIN returns

In addition to the debut of the Maryland Treasures artwork, we also have the return of everyone's favorite wheel, The Big Spin Wheel. THE BIG SPIN is a $5 scratch-off game where players can win up to $50,000 instantly.

If they don't win instantly, they could win a digital reveal that leads to either a cash prize or the chance to spin a 74.5-inch-tall illuminated wheel at the lottery headquarters. If they happen to get a spin on the wheel, they could win between $50,000 and $250,000.

For the ticket, players need to match any of their numbers to one or more of the four winning numbers on the ticket to win the prize shown for that number. If they happen to reveal a “SPIN” symbol, then they need to take their ticket to a lottery retailer for a digital reveal, or they can scan the ticket on the Maryland Lottery app to see what they've won.

For this reveal, they could win between $10 and $250 or a Big Spin!

Enjoy playing the Maryland Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
