Lottery players across the country have plenty of reasons to celebrate, with more than $12 million in prizes recently won or claimed in five states. From a $6.79 million Lotto 47 jackpot in Michigan to a $2 million Powerball win in Louisiana, several of these winners have already collected their winnings. However, weekend drawings in California and Wisconsin gave us even more big winners who have yet to claim their prize. Check out where the winning tickets were sold and how much money is up for grabs below.
‘You can’t win if you don’t play’
The biggest prize in this roundup belongs to a 48-year-old Grand Traverse County man who recently claimed a $6.79 million Lotto 47 jackpot, which is the biggest Lotto 47 jackpot won in Michigan this year.
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, matched all six of the winning numbers during the August 15, 2026, drawing. The winning numbers for that drawing were 4, 16, 28, 30, 36, and 37.
The lucky winner bought his ticket at Northland Food Center, located at 2377 East M 113 in Kingsley. He told lottery officials, “I play Lotto 47 and some of the other draw games regularly because my theory is that you can’t win if you don’t play.”
That theory paid off after he went on the Michigan Lottery app the day after the drawing and found out he won the jackpot. "When I saw I matched all six and won the $6.79 million jackpot, I wanted to scream!" he told lottery officials.
He chose the lump-sum payment and received about $4.7 million before taxes. With those winnings, he said he plans on buying a house, investing, and taking a few trips.
Match 5 Powerball win for over $2.2 million in California
During the October 10 Powerball drawing, one lucky ticket in California matched all the winning white balls to win $2.26 million.
The winning numbers for that drawing were 1, 2, 19, 33, and 51, and the Powerball number was 15. The winning ticket was purchased at Americo Food Mart and Gas, located at 12402 Woodside Avenue in Lakeside.
In addition, there was another winner who matched four numbers and the Powerball to win $55,740. That winning ticket was purchased at Sequoia Mini Mart, located at 1382 Gravenstein Highway South in Sebastopol.
In California, prize payout amounts are pari-mutuel and determined by sales and the number of winners. A typical Match 5 win would be $1 million and $50,000 for the 4 balls + Powerball win.
Both winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.

Louisiana player collects $2 million Powerball prize
Over in Louisiana, Charles Moore of Prairieville recently claimed a $2 million Powerball prize from the October 5 drawing.
Moore matched all five of the winning white balls — 16, 23, 32, 36, and 54 — and added the Power Play option for $1, which doubled his $1 million prize to $2 million. He bought the winning ticket from Delaunes Supermarket in Saint Amant. Moore recently claimed his winnings, and after state and federal tax withholdings, he took home about $1.46 million.
$1 million Powerball win for Houston resident
The Powerball wins continue, this time in Texas. A Houston resident recently claimed a $1 million Powerball prize from the September 30 drawing. The anonymous winner bought a Quick Pick ticket at Oncar Investment Inc. in Houston. The ticket matched all five white balls — 4, 6, 23, 33, and 44 — but missed the Powerball (13).
For selling the winning ticket, the lucky lottery retailer received a $10,000 bonus from the state lottery.
Weekend of wins in Wisconsin
The weekend wrapped up with four winning tickets worth a combined $350,000 in Wisconsin.
The big wins started on Friday, October, when an All or Nothing ticket purchased in Evansville won $100,000 during the Midday drawing by matching none of the 11 drawn numbers. The winning numbers for that draw were 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 18, and 19.
On Saturday, a Powerball ticket purchased in Hayward matched four numbers plus the Powerball number to win $50,000.
Then, the lottery luck continued on Sunday when two more All or Nothing players won $100,000. The winning tickets were purchased in Milwaukee and Kenosha.
Both tickets matched all of the winning numbers drawn for the Midday drawing, which were 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 15, 18, 19, 20, and 21, to win the game’s top prize.
The lucky winners have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prizes. With millions already collected and several winning tickets still awaiting claims, it's been a lucky stretch for lottery players across the country.
Enjoy playing the lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
