Wednesday's lottery drawings turned two tickets into million-dollar paydays — one in the Deep South, the other up North. In Louisiana, a Lotto ticket sold in Mandeville matched all six numbers to win a whopping $2.43 million jackpot, finally ending a five-month dry spell without a winner.

Meanwhile, in Minnesota, a Gopher 5 ticket purchased at a Kwik Trip in Woodbury hit for $1.02 million, crowning yet another brand-new millionaire. Whether you're from the Bayou State or the Land of 10,000 Lakes, it's been a good week for lottery winners.

Lotto jackpot win in Louisiana

During the Wednesday, April 9, drawing for the Lotto game from the Louisiana Lottery, one lucky ticket matched all of the winning numbers to win the $2.43 million jackpot. The winning numbers for last night's drawing were 4, 7, 23, 34, 38, and 39.

According to lottery officials, there was one ticket purchased that matched all six of the winning numbers to claim the top prize. That winning ticket was purchased in Mandeville, so if you purchased a Lotto ticket there for last night's drawing, you better go check if it's the big winner.

Over five months since the last win

The last jackpot winner for the Lotto draw game happened on October 26, 2024. At that time, one lucky ticket purchased in New Orleans matched all the winning numbers drawn to win the $675,000 jackpot.

That means this current jackpot run consisted of 45 drawings before another winner was crowned. The twice-a-week draw game went over five months without a jackpot winner, but the Mandeville resident is probably happy to claim that $2.43 million jackpot soon.

Gopher 5 jackpot win in Minnesota

Meanwhile, over in Minnesota, a new millionaire was crowned in the Gopher 5 draw game. A ticket purchased in Woodbury matched all five of the winning numbers drawn on Wednesday, April 9, to win the $1.02 million jackpot from the Minnesota Lottery.

The winning numbers for last night's drawing were 5, 14, 28, 39, and 43. The winning ticket was purchased at Kwik Trip, located at 8477 City Centre Drive in Woodbury.

For selling the winning ticket, the lucky lottery retailer will get a $5,000 bonus from the state. And if you purchased a Gopher 5 ticket from the Kwik Trip located on City Centre Drive in Woodbury, you better go check your ticket because you could be holding a ticket worth over $1 million.

This latest Gopher 5 jackpot run

The last jackpot win for this draw game in Minnesota, which drawings are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, was February 7, 2025. The jackpot at that time was $110,000, as it had only made it two drawings before a winner was crowned after someone won $340,000 during the January 31, 2025, drawing.

For this current jackpot run, there were 27 drawings held before someone matched all of the winning numbers. Because of that jackpot run, the top prize made its way all the way up to $1.02 million.

Claiming your prize

If you happen to be holding either of these jackpot-winning tickets, then it's time to claim your prize.

For the Lotto winner in Louisiana, you have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim your prize. You will have to claim your winnings at lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge. Make sure to bring a valid photo ID and the completed claim form, which can be found here, with you.

For the Gopher 5 winner, you have one year from the date of the drawing to claim your prize. You will have to claim your winnings at lottery headquarters in Roseville. Lottery officials recommend that you call ahead to check hours and to make an appointment.

Enjoy playing the lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
