Cheers erupted in Rockford, Illinois, after a lucky lottery player purchased the winning ticket for the June 22 Lucky Day Lotto drawing.

The life-changing $900,000 ticket was sold at Stop N Shop on 2501 North Huffman Boulevard.

The winner, a regular customer at the store, remained anonymous but expressed pure joy upon discovering the win.

Stop N Shop store manager Raj Pate said:

The winner came in Sunday morning, scanned the ticket, and gasped and his face turned bright red when he realized he was holding a jackpot-winning ticket.

Patel continued:

He was ecstatic, of course, they couldn't believe it! He's a town local and a regular customer we see a few times a week.

The winning ticket matched all five numbers drawn on Saturday evening: 8-11-14-33-34.

Patel said:

The winner was absolutely thrilled. “It's a nice life-changing amount,” he told me. My advice to our players? Dream big and take a chance on a ticket. This just proved that dreams can come true and I'm so happy for the winner.

The win extends beyond the lucky ticket holder. Stop N Shop also celebrates receiving a $9,000 selling bonus, one percent of the prize amount. More than 29,800 Lucky Day Lotto tickets were winners in the Saturday, June 22nd evening drawing.

This lucky draw adds to the over six million-winning Lucky Day Lotto tickets sold in 2024 so far. The total prize pool for Illinois Lottery players this year has surpassed $34.3 million.

Illinois Lottery reminds all winners to claim their prizes within one year of the draw date. Remember to sign the back of your winning ticket and keep it in a safe place until you're ready to claim your prize.

How to play Lucky Day Lotto

Here's your chance to try your luck with Lucky Day Lotto, an Illinois-only game with two daily drawings at 12:40 PM and 9:22 PM. Here's a quick guide to play the game:

  • Head to a retailer or use the Illinois Lottery app.
  • Choose your play method: fill out a play slip or opt for a Quick Pick (randomly generated numbers).
  • Each play costs $1.
  • Decide if you want to participate in the Midday, Evening, or Both drawings.
  • Choose five numbers between 1 and 45.

For an extra $1 per play, you can add EZmatch to your ticket. This generates a second set of five numbers. Match any of your Lucky Day Lotto numbers to the EZmatch numbers for an instant win.

With your selections made, you're ready to try your luck at the next Lucky Day Lotto drawing. Remember, you can play multiple times and for more draws by speaking to your retailer.
