Erie Canal Raffle pours out 15 $1M prizes across the Empire State

From top-tier prizes to hidden $200 wins, there's cash waiting all over the state with over 5,500 winners.

It wasn't just history being celebrated this fall; it was luck, too. In honor of the Erie Canal's 200th anniversary, the New York Lottery turned nostalgia into new fortunes with a canal-inspired raffle that left players across the state checking their tickets twice.

The New York Lottery has announced the winners of the Million Dollar Raffle drawing, which took place recently. The raffle, which was inspired by the bicentennial celebration of the Erie Canal, produced over 5,500 winning tickets, including 45 top-tier prize winners.

The top prize was $1 million, and there were 15 tickets that took home the top prize. Those tickets were sold at the following retail locations:

  • He & Jay Stationery LLC, located at 123 Einstein Loop in the Bronx.
  • Kings Gift Shop, located at 6 W Kingsbridge Rd. in the Bronx.
  • Throgs Neck Petro LLC, located at 4147 Throggs Neck Expwy in the Bronx.
  • Fairfield Food Inc., located at 2525 3rd Ave. in the Bronx.
  • M&J Liquor, located at 5203 Broadway in the Bronx.
  • Mirabito #08-New Berlin, located at 63 S Main St. in New Berlin.
  • Stewart's Shops #302, located at 1200 Dutchess Turnpike in Poughkeepsie.
  • BW's, located at 11070 Perry Road in Pavilion.
  • Heng Yun Grocery, located at 329 Grand St in Manhattan.
  • Newspaper Stand, located at 1965 Broadway in Manhattan.
  • J&E Dynamic Store, Inc., located at 147-14 Jamaica Avenue in Queens.
  • Stewart’s Shops #400, located at 1100 High Bridge Road in Schenectady.
  • A&A Food Mart, Inc., located at 523 E. High Street in Painted Post.
  • Conoco Quick Stop, located at 626 Route 112 in Patchogue.
  • Lincoln Dale Wine and Liquor, located at 155 Route 202 in Somers.

Additional top-tier prizes

Besides the $1 million prizes, the Million Dollar Raffle also gave away 15 prizes of $100,000 and 15 prizes of $25,000. The 15 $100,000 prizes were sold at the following retail locations:

  • Tops Markets #531, located at 6734 Route 9 in Rhinebeck.
  • Western OTB Gaming, located at 8315 Park Rd in Batavia.

  • Bolla 901 Hillside C-Store, located at 901 Hillside Ave. in New Hyde Park.
  • Alba's Grocery Of Kew Gardens, located at 119-20 Metropolitan Ave. in Kew Gardens.
  • North Conduit Auto Center Inc., located at 162-35 N Conduit Ave. in Jamaica.
  • D R E Deli Grocery Corp, located at 20219 Jamaica Ave. in Hollis.
  • Stewart's Shops #385, located at 214 Guideboard Rd. in Waterford.
  • Gary's Gulf, located at 5556 Express Drive South in Holtsville.
  • 7-Eleven #16299, located at 355 Boyle Rd. in Selden.

As far as the 15 winners of $25,000 prizes, those tickets were sold at the following retail locations:

Even more raffle winners

The Millionaire Dollar Raffle had even more winners. Since the Erie Canal was turning 200 years old this year, the New York Lottery also handed out 5,460 prizes of $200.

For all of the tickets, they were sold, counting down from 2,000,000. This means that the first ticket sold was ticket number 2,000,000, and the last ticket number sold was 1,208,648.

The winning tickets were drawn from the range of 1,208,648 through 2,000,000. The drawing of the winning tickets was overseen by an auditor from KPMG, as well as the Lottery Integrity unit.
