It wasn't just history being celebrated this fall; it was luck, too. In honor of the Erie Canal's 200th anniversary, the New York Lottery turned nostalgia into new fortunes with a canal-inspired raffle that left players across the state checking their tickets twice.

The New York Lottery has announced the winners of the Million Dollar Raffle drawing, which took place recently. The raffle, which was inspired by the bicentennial celebration of the Erie Canal, produced over 5,500 winning tickets, including 45 top-tier prize winners.
The top prize was $1 million, and there were 15 tickets that took home the top prize. Those tickets were sold at the following retail locations:

Besides the $1 million prizes, the Million Dollar Raffle also gave away 15 prizes of $100,000 and 15 prizes of $25,000. The 15 $100,000 prizes were sold at the following retail locations:

Even more raffle winners
The Millionaire Dollar Raffle had even more winners. Since the Erie Canal was turning 200 years old this year, the New York Lottery also handed out 5,460 prizes of $200.
For all of the tickets, they were sold, counting down from 2,000,000. This means that the first ticket sold was ticket number 2,000,000, and the last ticket number sold was 1,208,648.
The winning tickets were drawn from the range of 1,208,648 through 2,000,000. The drawing of the winning tickets was overseen by an auditor from KPMG, as well as the Lottery Integrity unit.
