It was a winning week for one lottery retailer in Chicago, including a $1 million winning Lotto Million 1 ticket just days after one lucky customer won $10,000 on an instant ticket.

Winning Lotto ticket

The winning Lotto Million 1 ticket was for the Saturday, July 6 drawing. It was purchased at the ARCO gas station, located at 2758 W. Peterson Ave. in Chicago's West Rogers Park neighborhood.

The winning numbers for the July 6 drawing were 1, 8, 12, 16, 28, and 49. The winning ticket matched all six numbers to win the $1 million prize.

Jackpaul Singh, owner of ARCO in West Rogers Park, exclaimed:

The news that we sold a $1 million winning Lotto ticket came just after one of our regular customers won $10,000 on a scratch-off ticket right here in front of me. I can't believe we've had two big winners in the past week. I don't know if it's good karma or luck, but I look forward to seeing more winners walk through our doors!

Are you the winner?

While a winning ticket was sold, they haven't come forward to claim their prize. Lottery officials asked Singh if he knew who the new million happened to be, and he said:

I'm not sure who it could be — but I'm definitely curious! I want them to come in and tell us so we can celebrate with them. I can't wait to see the look of joy on their face.

If you happen to be the winner of that $1 million prize, you have one year from the date of the winning draw (July 6) to claim your prize. The Illinois Lottery encourages all winners to write their name on the back of the ticket and then keep it in a safe spot until they're ready to claim their winnings.

Speaking of winnings, there were 37,000 other winning Lotto tickets sold for the Saturday, July 6, drawing. In addition, there have been nine lucky Illinois Lottery players who have won a million dollars or more playing Lotto in 2024.

Lucky time for Lottery retailer

While the luck has been flowing at the ARCO gas station for players, it also is a lucky time for the owners. For selling the winning Lotto ticket, Singh's ARCO will receive a bonus of one percent of the prize amount for selling the winning ticket.

Singh shares:

I actually grew up in this neighborhood. I used to stop at this store and buy candy on my way to school. As soon as I saw the store was listed for sale a few years ago, I jumped at the opportunity to buy it. I've always loved this store, and business couldn't be better. The neighborhood is super diverse, very family-oriented, and has blessed us with an amazing, supportive customer base.

Lotto is an Illinois-only game with drawings held every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. In addition to the regular Lotto drawing, the game offers two additional drawings: Lotto Million 1 and Lotto Million 2. These give players more chances to match all six numbers and win a $1 million prize, as this lucky player did.

Enjoy playing the Illinois Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
