If someone was offering you almost $500,000 on the street, would you just let it pass you by and throw it away?

Expiring CA$H 5 ticket

That is what one Hoosier Lottery player is doing, as a jackpot-winning CA$H 5 ticket worth $458,872 is about to expire unless the lucky winner claims it by July 1 and Lottery officials are encouraging players to check their old tickets!

The jackpot-winning CA$H 5 ticket was purchased in January for the January 2 drawing. The ticket was purchased at Luke 234, located at 9502 E. Ridge Rd. in Hobart.

The winning ticket matched all five of the numbers drawn that night. The winning CA$H 5 numbers for the Tuesday, January 2, drawing were 4, 9, 13, 18, and 21.

The deadline is approaching

In Indiana, all Hoosier Lottery Draw game prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing date. Since this CA$H 5 drawing was held on January 2, that means the ticket holder has until Monday, July 1, to claim the winnings.

The ticket holder has until 4:30 p.m. ET on that day to claim their prize at the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment office located at 1302 N. Meridian St. in Indianapolis.

If you happen to be the lucky ticket holder, Lottery officials suggest you ensure the ticket is in a secure place and then contact Hoosier Lottery customer service at 1-800-955-6886 for specific claim instructions.

CA$H 5 - how does it work?

CA$H 5 is a draw game for the Hoosier Lottery held every day at 11:00 p.m. ET. To play, you need to select five numbers between 1 and 45, or you can choose the Quick Pick selection and let the computer generate numbers for you.

Players can also choose the EZmatch option, which gives them a chance to win instant prizes. If you choose the EZmatch option, then you will receive a set of EZmatch numbers for each CA$H 5 line. If any of the EZmatch numbers match your CA$H 5 numbers, then you will instantly win the prize shown. CA$H 5 costs $1 per play and an additional $1 per play for EZmatch.

The jackpot for CA$H 5 starts out at $75,000 and grows by $5,000 a day until someone wins. There are four prize categories for the main game, which range from a free Quick Pick ticket for matching two numbers up to the jackpot for matching all five numbers.

The odds of winning the jackpot in CA$H 5 are 1 in 1.22 million. The overall odds of winning any prize in CA$H 5 are 1 in 11.

One ticket expires as another ticket becomes a winner

While this CA$H 5 ticket is about to expire, the Hoosier Lottery announced one lucky ticket holder matched four out of five numbers and the Powerball Double Play for the Saturday, June 22, draw to win $50,000.

The winning ticket was purchased at Smoker Friendly #1521, located at 241 W. Main St. in Hanover. The winning Powerball Double Play numbers for the June 22 draw were 6, 23, 48, 49, and 54, and the Powerball number was 14.

The Powerball Double Play gives players the option of playing their numbers again in a second drawing. For $1 more, the Double Play Option gives players the chance to win up to $10 million.

Enjoy playing the Hoosier Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
