California Lottery player hits massive $526.5 million Powerball jackpot

After 29 draws since the last big win, a California player won this latest jackpot from a 7-Eleven in Anaheim.

Saturday night's Powerball drawing produced a sizable jackpot winner, the first in quite some time. A lottery player in California matched all six winning numbers to snag the jackpot worth $526.5 million.

Powerball player wins big in Anaheim

Saturday night turned out to be a very profitable one for a lottery player in California. Following 29 consecutive draws since the last jackpot, a winning ticket in Anaheim secured the latest Powerball top prize.

The ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven located in Anaheim at 763 North Euclid Street. It matched all of the winning numbers, including the Powerball, for the draw on Saturday, March 29. The winning numbers were 7, 11, 21, 53, and 61, with a Powerball number of 2.

While the jackpot was estimated to reach just about $515 million that evening, additional sales near the end of the day moved that figure all the way up to over $526 million. The California Lottery player will now have a choice of receiving the annuitized prize of the overall amount, or instead take the lump sum totaling $243.8 million.

Additional Powerball winners

This was just the second Powerball jackpot of 2025 and the first since mid-January. That's when an Oregon Lottery player took home more than $328 million for the drawing that took place on Saturday, January 18.

In total, over 928,000 tickets won some form of prize from this most recent Saturday night draw. Among those are five new millionaires, who each matched all five of the white balls but not the Powerball. Two of the Match 5 players reside in Georgia, with Ohio, Oregon, and Texas rounding the rest of the notable winner locations.

The Powerball jackpot has now reset as always following a jackpot hit and is worth $20 million ($9.3 million cash) for the drawing tonight, Monday, March 31.

Another Powerball jackpot in California

The Golden State has seen its fair share of jackpots of late. Since 2021, 30 Powerball jackpots were hit in the United States. Of those instances, someone in California has won a total of seven times, or around 23%.

The only other states to show up on that list multiple times since 2021 are Florida, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.

Since Powerball debuted in 1992, California has generated the ninth-most jackpot winners, even though the draw game didn't arrive in the state until 2013. The 16 overall jackpot winners (including this latest) represent about 3.8% of the total.

Powerball tickets are currently available in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights at 10:59 p.m. ET.
