The new year is off to a thrilling start for lottery players, with not one but two life-changing jackpots won this past weekend! From the lush landscapes of Oregon to the sunny streets of Arizona, lucky Powerball and Mega Millions players made history, snagging the first massive prizes of 2025, including the biggest win ever using Jackpocket.com in Arizona.

Not only did we see big jackpot wins in these two states, but other lucky players cashed in during these drawings, with players in Michigan and Florida taking home their one-million-dollar prizes.

First Powerball jackpot winner of 2025

The first Powerball jackpot of 2025 was won by a single ticket purchased in Beaverton, Oregon. The Oregon Lottery player matched all six of the winning numbers drawn for the Saturday, January 18, 2025, drawing to win the jackpot worth $328.5 million. The cash value of that jackpot is $146.4 million.

The winning white ball numbers for Saturday's drawing were 14, 31, 35, 64, and 69, and the Powerball number was 23. The Power Play multiplier was 2X.

This big jackpot win is the first Powerball jackpot win of the new year, with the last Powerball jackpot being won on December 7, 2024, by a ticket purchased in New York that won a $256 million jackpot.

This lucky ticket holder from Oregon will have to choose between an annuitized prize of $328.5 million or a one-time lump sum payment of $146.4 million. Both of those prize amounts are before taxes. If they choose the annuity option, they will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.

This isn't the first go-round of players in Oregon winning big playing Powerball. Last year, a lucky trio hit it big when they won a $1.3 billion jackpot. The lucky winner, who was battling a recurrence of cancer, split the winnings with his wife and friend, with him and his wife each taking 25% and the friend getting 50% of the winnings.

The overall odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. In addition to the jackpot win, there was one lucky ticket purchased in Michigan that matched all five of the winning white ball numbers and chose the Power Play option to win $2 million.

Biggest Jackpocket.com win ever

Meanwhile, Mega Millions players also saw their first jackpot winner of the new year this past weekend. One lucky Arizona Lottery player used the Jackpocket.com courier service and matched all of the winning numbers to win the $112 million jackpot and became the biggest jackpot winner to have used the app.

The winning white ball numbers for Friday night's drawing were 8, 10, 37, 54, and 69, and the Mega Ball was 22, with the Megaplier being 3X. The winning ticket was delivered through courier service Jackpocket.com and purchased at Winners Corner, located at 524 W. Broadway Rd. in Tempe.

This win also happens to be the second-biggest Mega Millions jackpot won in Arizona, with the highest being $414 million by a Glendale resident on June 9, 2020.

This big win happens to come just three weeks after one lucky ticket in California won the $1.27 billion jackpot during the December 27, 2024, drawing. That jackpot happened to be the fifth largest Mega Millions jackpot of all time, but this $112 million jackpot didn't crack the Top 10.

The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302.6 million. In addition to the jackpot win, we also saw a ticketholder from Michigan and one from Florida match all five of the winning white ball numbers to win $1 million each.

Enjoy playing the lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
