Lottery luck is already in the air this weekend. One Pennsylvania player kicked things off in a big way with a Match 6 win worth $950,000, and now all eyes are on tonight's Mega Millions drawing, where a jaw-dropping $575 million jackpot could make someone else's weekend unforgettable.

The start of a winning weekend

Is it about to be a winning weekend for lottery players across the country? They are certainly hoping for that, and one lucky player in Pennsylvania started the weekend off strong with a big win.

The Pennsylvania Lottery announced that one lucky Match 6 ticket matched all of the winning numbers drawn for the Thursday, October 9, drawing. For matching all the winning numbers drawn, the lucky player won the jackpot worth $950,000.

The winning numbers from last night's drawing were 5, 19, 21, 22, 38, and 43.

This winning ticket was purchased at Super Mart Convenience Store (United Brother LLC), located at 1761 Pine Hollow Road in McKees Rocks. For selling the winning ticket, the lucky retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus from the state lottery.

In addition to the jackpot winner, there were over 35,000 other Match 6 tickets that won prizes in last night's drawing. These prizes ranged from $2 to $2,500.

If you happen to be holding one of those winning tickets, you have one year from the date of the drawing to claim your prize.

Will Mega Millions keep the winning going?

While one lucky player is celebrating in Pennsylvania after last night's Match 6 win, other lottery players are hoping to keep that winning going during tonight's Mega Millions drawing.

It's been six months since Mega Millions made changes to the multi-state draw game. One of the reasons for the changes was to help create bigger jackpots for players. Now, here we are, with the current jackpot standing at $575 million for the Friday, October 10, 2025, drawing.

While someone is hoping to win that jackpot tonight, we have seen a large number of winners since the first drawing of the new Mega Millions game on April 8. Here is a breakdown of some of those big wins:

  • Two jackpot wins – One for $112 million in Ohio on April 18, and one for $348 million in Virginia on June 27.
  • 24 new millionaires – In addition, the game has produced 24 new millionaires. These players won a combined $68 million, with 10 having won $2 million, nine winning $3 million, four winning $4 million, and one winning $5 million.
  • 339% prize increase – We have seen 13.6 million players win $344.4 million in non-jackpot prizes. This is an increase of 339% over the $78.3 million those same wins would have paid out in the old game.
  • Mega Ball wins pay out more than the old game – There has been $134 million in prizes for players matching only the Mega Ball. That means these players have won almost twice as much as the $78.3 million total that would have been paid out across all eight non-jackpot prizes in the old format.

Players are hoping that winning continues tonight, with the jackpot at $575 million. Enjoy playing the Pennsylvania Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
