The Powerball prize has officially hit jaw-dropping territory, soaring past the half-billion mark and sparking dreams from coast to coast. While tonight's $501 million jackpot may not crack the all-time Top 10, it carries the power to rewrite history in more than a few states.

Some places have never seen a jackpot win this massive, and if the winning ticket is sold there, the record books will get a major update. So, which lucky state could make lottery history tonight?

Powerball jackpot keeps rolling over

No Powerball jackpot winners over the weekend, so the jackpot continues to roll over and has now passed the half-billion mark. Tonight's drawing, Monday, August 11, 2025, will be for an estimated $501 million with a cash value of $229.5 million.

We have seen many rollovers during this current jackpot run, which now stands at 30 drawings without a jackpot winner. The last jackpot win took place on May 31, 2025. At that time, one ticket purchased in California matched all the winning numbers drawn that night to win the $205 million jackpot.

Breaking state records

While this jackpot doesn't crack the Top 10 highest Powerball jackpots of all time, it would be breaking some state lottery records. Powerball made its debut in 1992, and now tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Some states have hit those bigger Powerball or Mega Millions jackpots, but other states want a chance at the big money. If one lucky ticket wins tonight's Powerball jackpot of $501 million, the following states would be setting the record for the biggest lottery jackpot win in their state ever:

  • Arizona – the current biggest jackpot is $293.8 million.
  • Arkansas – the current biggest jackpot is $177 million.
