The first Lotto America jackpot winner of 2026 has finally emerged, ending an 11-month jackpot run with a historic prize. The winning ticket, sold in Minnesota, claimed the game's third-largest jackpot ever and continued the state's remarkable history of landing some of Lotto America's biggest wins.

First Lotto America jackpot win of 2026

For the first time in 2026, the Lotto America jackpot has a winner. One lucky player in Minnesota matched all the winning numbers during the Saturday, July 18, 2026, drawing to win the $34.12 jackpot.

The winning numbers for that drawing were 13, 17, 22, 28, and 40, and the Star Ball was 3. The All Star Bonus multiplier was two.

The lucky winner will have the choice to receive the prize as an annuity. This would be paid out as 30 increasing payments over the next 29 years. Or they can receive it as a lump sum payout of $15.15 million. Both of these prize options are before taxes.

Jackpot run comes to an end

This was a huge jackpot run for Lotto America players. The last jackpot win took place on August 6, 2025. At that time, one ticket purchased in South Dakota matched all the winning numbers to win the $4.01 million jackpot.

The jackpot reset to $2 million for the Saturday, August 9, 2025, drawing and has been growing ever since. To be exact, this jackpot run has included 148 drawings before the big jackpot win for the Minnesota Lottery player.

The $34.12 million jackpot happens to be the third-largest in the multi-state draw game's history. So, it was a historic run that ended with a big win for Minnesota.

Minnesota is a lucky state for Lotto America players

In addition to the jackpot win on Saturday, another Minnesota Lottery player matched the first five numbers drawn but missed out on the Star Ball. For doing so, they won a $20,000 cash prize.

This just goes to show that Minnesota Lottery players have had some major luck when it comes to Lotto America. Here are the Top 5 jackpots in the game's history:

  1. $40.03 million – April 1, 2023, winning ticket purchased in Iowa.
  2. $37.37 million – June 7, 2025, winning ticket purchased in Tennessee.
  3. $34.12 million – July 18, 2026, winning ticket purchased in Minnesota.
  4. $22.82 million – March 14, 2018, winning ticket purchased in Minnesota.
  5. $21.6 million – July 10, 2019, winning ticket purchased in Minnesota.

Of the Top 5 biggest jackpots for Lotto America, three of them were won by Minnesota Lottery players. That's some pretty good odds, so it seems like Minnesota has something lucky in the water when it comes to Lotto America.

The Lotto America jackpot now resets to $2 million for tonight's drawing (Monday, July 20, 2026). For tonight, we will also have the Powerball drawing. The Powerball jackpot is currently estimated at $544 million, with a cash value of $241.6 million.

Enjoy playing the lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
